I got 2 of the wireless adapters. Now what the heck do I do with it? Can someone point me in the right direction. I am running XP. Is there a sight That can walk me through the networking of 2 home computers?

I'm suprised this thread isn't locked yet. Man....the whole deal is based on trying to get a store to make a mistake and do a pricematch without taking in account the mail in rebate (which almost every store does).

Truthfully, I have some experience with the DLink wireless equipment, and it's not all that great. It's a bit of a bear to configure due to it's cryptic interface and if you use WEP it pretty much kills your connection. They're good for adding external antennas to due to the removeable antenna, but there are better products out there. One guy that drove around to different cities probably used $20 worth of gas and 3-4 hours of his time to get in on this "deal." Rather than go through all this hassle, I'd rather just fork over $60 for an SMC AP. If you have to go through this many hoops to get something for free, it's not really free----geeze

This is a manufacturers rebate, NOT a Circuit City rebate. So when Circuit City matches the Office Max price, they ARE NOT losing any extra money since D-Link is paying the $50. If Office Max can sell this for $60, then Circuit City should be able to.

«Anyone had luck getting it in Ca (Sacramento, thousand oaks...)?»

Getting the discounted prices at Office Max is easy -- just take a copy of the list of specials and the page from the ad in to any store. You can use Chico, Waco, Albuquerque, or any other area that has the D-Link stuff on special.

Getting the price match at Circuit City down to free after rebate is harder. You'll get the best results if you buy it at full price then go back to price match a few days later.

Well, finaly got my AP for $1.35 after I went down to CC again. I called them today and asked them about their PM policy, and the guy on the phone explained that it didn't matter if OM had the item in stock or not, they would still match to 110%. With this in mind, I headed down to CC again, did the same thing again, and the girl at the counter asked if OM had it in stock. I explained that the guy I talked to said this didnt matter, but I thought that they did. Without even picking up the phone, she rang up my order with the 110% and printed the rebate no problems. I'm wondering if CC tells their employees to use this excuse so they don't have to PM. The girl at the counter didn't even call the manager over, seems fishy. Thanks for the deal.

As I understand it, if you try to match at the time of purchase, the competitor must have the item in stock. Once you buy it, you can go back for an adjustment with just an advertisement, no stock is required. The theory is that you could have taken advantage of the later price decrease if you had not already spent your money at CC.

If you didn't get the ad this week, check again for the next week. I'm getting the ads now for Missouri.

Looks like OM rotates their ads. There was a thread about it sometime back ... can't find it now. It will be nice if we can understand the way they rotate ads.

I figured I wouldn't be greedy, especially since you guys have given me so many good deals. So, if you are in the NYC area, head to the Circuit City in Brooklyn, (Atlantic Center - Store # 3664) as they have at least 2 there (I was there about an hour ago and got one). Now, listen closely and follow my advice. Buy, the WAP at full price ($179). Do not I repeat, do not try to price match with Office Max first (you will get rejected). Reason being is that there is an Office Max on the floor below in the shopping complex. They will literaly send an employee down there to check on the price (I know they did this to me, twice) adn since they are not having the sale yet, they will come back and report that the price is $169. First time I tried to pricematch (sunday), I told them it was an instore special. They said the ad said limited quantities and gave me some BS that CC does not pricematch to limited quantities. The second time (yesterday), I told them that it was an in-store special from an OM in Manhattan. They said once again they wouldn't do it (and my poor luck) a guy who worked at OM was there (after leaving his shift, don't know what he was doing there, he should have went home) and said I should just have OM pricematch it to the other OM store (that is the backup plan). I couldn't tell them that I wanted to rebate as well. Anyway, so I suggest you buy at CC and take it to another CC (like the one in queens where someone posted they were able to successfully pricematch ) and do the pricematch there. You can also wait till this Sunday or next Sunday whenver the official ad comes out and try to pricematch then. Either way you have 14(min) to 30(max) days to do the pricematch and 30 days to return the WAP. Keep those fingers crossed.

Well I saw that the Kansas City area now has the advertisement posted on the officemax website with the WAP listed at 59.99, so I strolled on down to Circuit City and had no problems buying this WAP at 48 dollars. Pretty sweet deal! All the CC clerk did was look at OfficeMax's website and looked at their advertisement, got a manager and PM'd it no problems at all.

It is fair for CC to price match only with the price after MIR IF they do the same thing when other stores are giving the MIR. Do they do that ? No. When other stores are giving MIR, they want to PM only with price before MIR. They can't have it both ways.

In any case, if they do PM with price after MIR, who will buy from them ... and for what reason ? First of all we have to pay more sales tax, then put in extra money upfront and then wait for the MIR to come (after 4 or 6 months) ... if at all ... So, if the PM is essentially to boost sales, then they have to PM with price before MIR.

Ofcourse, all these store are able to sell at the prices they sell, only because of uninformed customers. So, some store managers decide not to PM ... and lose some sales.

finally got one at my local CC. the cust service monkeys are morons and can't do math, so i'll go back for some more money back tomorrow.

Bought for $179 + tax (last one in store)
Went to CS desk, got PM for $59 @ OMax but only 100%
Went back to CS desk and requested the 10%, after no less than 15mins of calculations and fighting with their computer they handed me $7 cash and said here you go (actual amount owed is $12, 10% of $120 difference)

so they owe me another $5. might let it slide considering its basically free, but if their policy is 110% PM, why didn't they do that the first time??

If you go back to circuscity to adjust the price, are they suppose to give you another rebate form or you can use the same one from the previous purchase when I got it for $179.99? They didn't give me a new one, and nothing print out from the register!

Deal of the year right here. My Office Max ad last week didn't have this, so I was bummed. It was listed on the CC website, but mine showed out of stock, so I was double bummed. Then I saw the OM ad yesterday, and there it was. I stopped in CC today to price printer cartridges, and as I was walking out it hit me, I needed to check just for giggles. Sure enough, they had two of them on the shelf for $179.99 with a $50 rebate. So I bought one, and headed back to OM. Grabbed an ad and a purchase slip since it had the model number, and headed right back to CC. Handed the guy my receipt, showed him the price in the ad, showed him that their stock numbers matched the purchase slip and the model number on the purchase slip matched my receipt, and he said he had to get manager approval. Came back and said she had already done one for someone else. Got my 110% price match credited back to my card. As long as the $50 rebate comes through, I got myself a wireless access point for 39 cents!

i bought the pci card at office max yesterday
i paid the 49 dollars which i think is a good deal
im not really interested in being a thief
anyone who is thinking of buying the card should know it is not easy to get it to install
something is flaky with getting the drivers to load correctly
i finally have it up and running and only get a decent connection
i have the 713p and now im going to get the printer setup

I'm in Indiana.

Now if I can get my 3Com Airconnect PCMCIA card from work to do WEP with this, I'll be all set. I live in an apartment complex, and keep thinking I should see if XP can find any nearby APs. Sure enough, I saw a second AP available when I was setting mine up-- no key needed. I couldn't get anywhere once I connected though.
