perhaps old news to some, but I "rediscovered" a security risk the other day while packetsniffing my linksys wap11 2.2 (BTW you can update your firmware to dlink as it's the same hardware, if you want more info pm me) I was sniffing the setup application for this, and it sends a data packet to the network that causes the AP to send back it's ip, and UNENCRYPTED user id and PASSWORD, I think it sends the encryption key too, but haven't really checked for it. this is NOT changed in the current ap and can apparently only be fixed by disabling application based(ie only allow web based) setup on the wireless side.
Security aside (I don't care because when I setup mine it will be on a linux box firewall) this is a pretty decent AP (the linksys atleast) I would assume the dlink is the same, especially if you plan on adding an aftermarket antenna.

Is the DWL-900AP+ better than the DI-614+? They both seem to list the same features and are priced about the same. Both are also covered by the current rebate.

Maverick215 - Actually, this is not the same hardware as the Linksys WAP11. The WAP11 is an 802.11b, 11Mbps-maximum Access Point. The D-Link 900+ Access Point and 614+ AP/Router have 802.11b, 22Mbps-maximum hardware within them. The chipset used in these devices was created by Texas Instruments. Therefore the security issue that you mentioned probably doesn't affect this hardware. (I do not have a wireless sniffer to test that theory, however.)
