So are you implying that this is just a YMMV case, or do all OM accept the coupons?

I'm not implying anything. I'm not sure what OfficeMax B&M's official policy is (remember not all OM employees are aware of or even adhere to their own policies, so yes YMMV) on accepting competitor's coupons BUT my local OM advertises that they accept competitor's coupons. I have in the past successfully used Staples printable coupons at OM B&M.

Just in case, YMMV again

Well, since you brought it up... (insert .wav file of vacuum seal breaking as we open a new can of worms)

Believe it or not, being passive isnt necessarily a bad thing. Asians being the example here then you can look at how well most of them are doing in comparison to many other minorities. Just like some other minority groups out there, many asians moved here dirt poor. But instead of trying to cash in on the US healthcare system or attending rallys on "what should the next politically correct term for our minority group be" then they instead work their butts off despite adversity. So instead of wasting money on the bling bling then many of them save up their hard earned pennies so their kids can go to college and get better lives.

Obviously your feelings on how minorities should deal with things is to just be a royal pisser everytime something negative is said and waste time on rediculous things like that instead of just work hard and prove yourself. And people wonder why our country is getting lazy. Keep anger alive, Reverend.

I guess not, if you don't mind getting stepped on and taken advantage of. But being passive was a secondary point, and you are intentionally avoiding my principal argument that by dismissing stereotyped jokes about Asians as harmless, you are condoning ideas and perceptions that ultimately hurt YOU and everyone else Asian...and when people complain that these remarks are inappropriate, you tell them they're being uptight. I personally think this is stupid.

OMG I'M THE MAN!!!!!!

Man am I proud at what I've started...

In any case, this thread has obviously gotten much more complex than the run of the mill hot deal. To squash the latter, inferior, angry Japanese vs. the Anandtech community thread, I will escape from work for a moment and kill it myself because yes, I am the man, I have always been the man, and I will forever continue to be EL HOMBRE... aka the man. And then we can focus on the cruddy deal at hand.

First off: I'm Asian so before you spit the white racist kkk crap bite me.

Japan is also the most technologically advanced country in the world in terms of small machinery(no pun intended). They're also known as being physically shorter than average Irish folk, for instance. These are facts. I mean lets face it. Japan is not exactly the NBA factory it once was, but we're all watching the games on our Sony, Panasonic, etc televisions, aren't we? Exactly. The only reason anyone would ever take offense to what I said is if they are so insanely self conscious as to first of all, come to the conclusion that shortness is a negative trait, and secondly, think the whole world must be a racist place that hates who they are. Ok, I can see the first point. Shortness? Not exactly on the Tall, Dark, and Handsome list. But are you really that vulnerable to take a one-liner and convert it into a racially motivated electronic lynching? Tell me to get out, get laid? Are you kidding me?
Right.

I have enough Japanese friends to not worry about being labelled a racist. I mean, what's not to love about me?

I find it interesting that so many people are sensitive to this issue. Are you Japanese?

If you are, answer me this:

If you're so sensitive to the issue of racism, what are you doing to fight racism in your own country?

Japan's government still won't recognize and officially apologize the use of comfort women despite hundreds of women who have come forward to protest their own mistreatment. (most of these women were under 18EDIT: at the time they were raped) Yet nothing is done b/c they're not Japanese. What're you doing? Non-Japanese cannot attend a Japanese University. Imagine that in America. But what're you doing? No foreigners can become Japanese citizens, even if they were born in Japan. What're you doing about that? There are few countries as ethnocentric as Japan.

I apologize only for a joke and forcing a few fools to cry.

It wasn't racist so drop it. if you have a problem with anything I've said, go to OFF Topic...

The wireless access point now shows up online, it did not for me since the ad came out over the weekend.

Does anyone know if the access point will work with my Linksys router ? this would be my first
wap.

Thanks

Auto...we are on the same page again. I would like to buy the WAP and the Wireless PCI card and connect them to my (wired) Linksys router. Since it does meet the 802.11B standard, there should be no problems......but I have heard too many stories of different wireless brands not working with other brands. Anyone have experience connecting these 2 brands?

I'm currently using a mix of a Linksys USB Nic & D-Link wireless router. No problems at all. I wouldn't worry about it too much, besides you can always return it if it doesn't work out.

man still thinking if I'd click the purchase button.. the order is sitting in my shopping cart.

BTW, don't forget to apply $30 OFF $150 coupon !

I was looking of the USB wireless LAN adapter for $39 after $10 MIR.. shouldn't this work better
than the wireless pcmcia adapter.. can be used both on desktops and laptops ? it's $20 cheaper than the pcmcia.. am i thinking right here. anyway, i could not find this online ??? help

Well, the D-Link Wireless LAN USB Adapter is now showing up as $99 instead of the $39 after $10 MIR on last weekend's ad.. looks pretty bulky too for the lappy.

I wouldn't be that concerned. Just in case make sure to keep your OM receipt and all the packing materials/boxes for your DLINK equipment. In case it doesn't work, return it for a refund within 14 days (not sure if OM tacks on a restocking fee or not).

For reference, I have a Linksys router at home, then I added an SMC WAP & router and I'm using a Dell TrueMobile 1150 (Orinoco Gold) PCMCIA card in my laptop.

They all work together in perfect harmony, no compatability problems what-so-ever.

Cool...then I will start searching for the best coupon combo, etc. and get this. I am not using a laptop, I will be using the wireless on a desktop that will be in a 2nd floor bedroom. The router and DSL modem are in the basement and wired (with 25' cables) to PC's in the 1st floor TV room. There was a small hole in the closet wall when I bought the house that lead right down to the basement where I have all the other PC's!!! How convenient! I guess I should use another 25 ft. cable and leave the WAP on the 1st floor so that the signal only has to travel one floor, right?

Thanks for the info.

I'm not a Networking guru but that's what I would do. I'd rather run cable so the connection can stay strong until it reaches the WAP, it's a lot better for it to only penetrate 1 floor rather than 2.

WiFi kicks major ass, you'll love it!

CSaddict: whatever you say does not affect in my mind that you are a racist person. don't back out on your words now. you made a direct attack on a race you are not familiar with and that is just not acceptable. continue to live on your racist ways for you will have no respect from any of us as long as you live. it's just so sad that how people choose to live in the past, with their limited views and hasty generalizations. but anyways, I know you're still 13 or 14 (still playing video games and all) so stay in school, get educated, learn from your mistakes.

where the hell is my dlink 900AP rebate check!!! :disgust:
