Searched but couldn't find reposts. So hopefully this is new.

This is a D-Link DI-614+ (973449) wireless router, which is pretty solid from what I've heard, for $9.99 after two MIRs, one to D-Link, one to PCMall. Plus, both rebates are valid till January 2004.

you might be able to get linux to run on this thing if you're dedicated. you'd need to build or buy your own jtag interface as a first step

Nice~ i remember a refurb version of this for about the same price as well. Picture looks like a first edition, but they may ship over a second edition. Guess i'll update the thread once i receive mine.

AHhhh dammit, just saw the shipping prices.....
12.19 for ups ground and 19 for second day....

I have this same exact router and my only complaint is that you can only put one PC in a DMZ to make it free of pesky firewalls and such). A neighbor has a Linksys router and it's much stronger, more configurable, and more solid than mine.

in regards to the last post, I have a linksys router myself - it is decent in configuration etc., but my uncle just bought the G version of the 614 dlink, and it is VASTLY superior in terms of configuration/options. It also performs most excellently in terms of wireless performance - not to mention all the unexplained trouble linksys routers have with hosting games and so forth on the internet, despite forwarding ports and even setting dmz. Just search online, people get randomly kicked from games hosted behind linksys routers. I would definitely recommend the dlink

Nice find! I have the two-antenna version of this router and am very happy with it. It covers my entire house, and the signal is always good to excellent (even in the garage!).

9.99 is EXACTLY how much its worth. therein this is a hot deal.

however I ran into SOO much trouble with this unit its not even funny. The problems became even worse when I bought the DLINK wireless PCI cards (520+).

Actually, you all should just save up for the netgear MA814 (or something). That one works like a charm... a little slow but definitely worth the $30 i spent on it.

I've had many problems with my Netgear, while the D-Link has worked pretty well. The DI-514 is 11 Mbps. The DI-614+ is 22 Mbps (if you have compatible client hardware).

if u knew anything about routers, it's impossible to have more than one DMZ.

I have this router and think it is great.

It sucessfully handles all I ask of it:
1) Mulitple wired and wireless clients upto a range of 150 feet through 2-4 walls, etc.
2) Multiple OS machines on both wired and wireless ranging from Win 98-XP to Mac OS 9.1-10.3
3) Connection to a networked printer (via DP-101+)
4) Easy to understand and configure with a quality interface.
5) Remote access to my PC via windows (i.e. it can forward requests on a certain port to a certain PC for remote access)

Actually the term DMZ is not being used correctly in this context (which may be D-Link's fault for calling it that). A true DMZ is a set of hosts with a route to and from the Internet and a private network. In this context, what they call the DMZ is the host behind a network address translator that all incoming ports are forwarded to by default. weepul is right - you can only have one such host.

Where have u been? That is the biggest SOHO NAT box scam of the past 3-4 years. Calling that a DMZ when we all know a DMZ is a seperate physical interface/subnet sitting between the net and the Lan

I need a big favor. I purchased the router for my sister and it was shiped directly to her house. I live in another state and told her I would take care of rebate. Simple enough, Right? Anyway, I told her she needs to send me the a UPC and instead of sending me UPC box for the router, she sent me the UPC from UPS box.

The one rebate for PCMALL has to be postmark by 15 days. I was wonder if someone could send me a copy of UPC.

Thanks...

PS She has mailed the correct one now, but it may come to late. I think she is working on faxing it to me, if she can find a fax machine.

Are you talking from experience?

The PCMALL rebate form states the following:
Send the completed coupon, which must be postmarked within 15 days of your purchase date, with a copy of your sales receipt plus the UPC labels to:

Why would they have two rebates on there site if they were not going to honor both?

Good deal if the rebates aren't too big.

Got one for $15 at Office Depot. Comments: excellent range, flawless when splitting a WAN (my Cable internet service). It was a bit troublesome when I was sharing some dial-up with the DHCP turned off though. I have the 1 antenna version; the other antenna is supposedly internal. But hey, the range is excellent, so no prob. For people who use routers with broadband, this thing is nice.
