D-Link DI-804V router + speed problems

Hi!

To make it clear, i have 2 comp, number 1 is where the broadband modem and the router are, number 2 is in my bedroom and it is connected with utp to the router.

My problem is, that if i connect the modem directly to my number 1 computer, without the router, the speed is 10mbit down / 1mbit up, that's my connection's normal speed.
However if i connect the modem to the router than the router is connected to my network card ( and also the comp number 2 connected to the router too), the speed is only ~5-6mbit download and ~0.8mbit upload.

I read somewhere that not to change the MTU, it is 1500, as default.
I dont run anything special on my router, so i just can't find anything to change , to solve the problem...

anybody has any idead that wtf happens if the router is connected and the speed is decreased near to the 50-60% of the normal speed? what can cause this?

I have seen problems with older linksys routers (I know you have a d-link and not a linksys) where they would not handle more than 5 or so MB of throughput. We ended up taking them out and switching to another brand which resolved the problem. I am not familier with the exact router you have, but I would try another router just to make sure that is not the case. I am not saying go out and buy a new router, just borrow one from a friend and give it a shot.

Make sure and update us on what you find out, I am very interested to see if you come up with a full problem/solution for this.

maybe i can borrow a linksys router, and will see that if it'S ok with it.
i read the manual of my router, and the router full duplex speed is 20mbit... half duplex 10mbit....
However, it's full duplex the connection so if the half of it's works, like tha 604 where only 6.75mbit is useable in case, my router have to reach the 10mbit if we talk about the half of if...
maybe that's a bullshit, somebody said that i don't kno actually.
i give a try with another one..

the newest firmware is on my router, it's not a new model so the update of the firmware is ended 1-2 years ago, so there will be no newer firmware.
