I just got a cancellation e-mail too. Ordered early Saturday morning.

Spoke with them on the phone, and they said it's permanently out of stock, and the order would not be filled.:disgust:

(I called them last night, already figuring that they wouldn't be there since it was a national holiday, and they weren't there. I also wanted to make a second order, so that if the first one didn't go through, that I would have one--parents shot that idea down)

I called a CSR this morning, and asked him wtf was up with my order.
He said that it had no records of the order ever going through, and that they were out of stock.
He also told me to try back later in the afternoon to see if they got anymore shipments in.

Sounds like the Frys has already implemented their sales and customer service at outpost.

Good luck trying to find anyone who gives a rats *ss about anything.

Just goes to show how people will put up with a lot to get a cheap price. For me, Outpost and Frys are great for PMing, and the store of LAST RESORT.

I got mine this morning. I played with it for half an hour.

Very easy to use and set up.

It comes with 32MB internal flash, expandable to 96MB(you can use 64MB external CF card), uses 2 AAA batteries. The sound quality is ok. It can play "mp3" or "DVR" format files. You can choose equalizer mode from "flat", "classic", "rock", "jazz", "metal". Also comes with digital-tuned voice control.

The voice recorder quality is very limited. I doubte this will work, if I use this at a big room, for eg, in the classroom. But will be fine, if you just record in front of your mouth.


If the reviewers in Amazon.com spent $30 for this player, they might give higher mark.

No complain for this price.

One concern is I transfered 7 files to the player. They were lost once, after I turned off the player. Only once. Don't know why.

I can't remember where I read now, somebody said can use 128MB SM card with this player.

I have a feeling that availablility is not on a first come first serve basis. I ordered mine after other people claimed they recieved a cancellation notice and to my surprise I recieved it today.

Got mine today, 2nd day Air (it was only $1.50 more). It did not work out of the package. The display just shows garbage. I tried for about a hour with differnt drives, batteries and etc. I called D-Link for Tech support. When I told them my product the guy said 'Can't load music, OK. Let me transfer you..' before I said any thing about my problem. The next guy laught and ask if I bought it locally( no), then gave me a RMA. Oh well...



I am using WinXP pro, I tried the drivers on the CD, the XP drivers and the 2000 drivers on the web site.

if you don't mind, could you tell me which OS you're using? I've received the item today as well but it does not transfer songs. Well, it takes forever to transfer a song over...

I tried a SW that came with it and also downloaded the latest support for Win XP (which had different) interface. TIA

I am using Windows 98 SE. I used the SW coming with the player. The transfer rate is really slow. It took around 2 minutes to transfer 27MB files from the hard drive to the player.

thanks... I tried transfering one file and it took more than 5 minutes. Although the provided software does reformat the internal memory. I'll try to be more patient.

OK, I was able to follow the manual and reset/init the memory. When I go to the provided program, I could reset the internal memory and also see that the internal memory is 32MB.

However, when I transfer file/song, I do get successful transfer message but my MP3 player does not respond and keeps flashing the Record message on the LCD.

people that think the deal is still good, it is not. The rebate ended on the 31st, and outpost's deal was "while supplies last" which are probably out of stock now.

I got mine but it seems the quality is terrible:
(1) the STOP sign is displayed "SEOP"
(2) no sound came out of the headset jack although the LCD showed the mp3 songs have been downloaded in and started playing

I gota return it/exchange it!

128 MB will NOT work for this MP3 player, I tried. The best you can have is 96 MB total.
