While being able to utilize CDRW discs would be nice, cheap CDR discs almost make this a null issue.

BTW, this player typically sells for $128 @ BuyCom - I've been looking at it for some time now.

I have one of these, 10 hours of mp3's (or more) and it can read CD-RW's.

Does the unit skip in MP3 mode? I know it has 10 sec anti skip for audio cds, but what about the MP3 cds?

Also, like NICKel asked, does it display ID3 tags?

The screen looks awfully small, I doubt it displays ID3 tags

Players like this upload the mp3 to a buffer so you get continuous play even if the unit is shaking, it also reduces power comsumption.

the great thing about this player is that it supports up to 320kps which is great for us VBR users where the bit rate occasionally spikes above the limit many other players bitrate limit....

Yeah, I've read a lot of personal reviews on other MP3/CD players, and they're all basically saying the units are lame. Mostly shoddy construction complaints, low bitrate capability, etc, but there were other biting comments. Is the D-Link much better?

I agree with slugbait. These mp3/cd players still have a ways to go before they have the functionality and battery life that you come to expect from typical audio CD player these days. I already own one and can live with limitations for now. Mine only plays bitrates up to 192kbps, so the 320kbps on the Dlink is great!

I can't answer your CDRW question because I don't own this player. However, I am interested in a few questions:

1) Have you noticed any skipping or &quot;pausing&quot; when playing MP3s? The Memorex that I have does this about every 30 minutes - and is quite irritating.

2) Quality: Is this device nicely constructed? Again, the Memorex is pretty cheaply constructed.

On a side note, the Classic MP3/CD player that is being sold by Circuit City for $99 appears to be same device as the Memorex. They just have different face covers on the player.
