I went into my local BB, and they were stacked w/ 704s, they must have had 25-30 of them. There were two stacks of them, so if anyone goes in tomm., and there not in there regular place, they have more somewhere else ( usually above the usb 2.0 cards or above the back wall to the right of the glass help desk). That is the way my BB works. Just a Headz up

RockOn123,

I live in bay area (CA) and 2 BB within 5 miles (3 within 9 miles). i'm going to get the Dlink router myself. If you want one, i can help you to get one.

Just pay whatever I pay BB + shipping to your home, I don't need the $10 help fee. We help each other here People here used to help me to get a couple items when i was in Montana (only Staples there).

PM me if you would like me to get you one. I'll check in the morning before i go BB.

Let me say my piece.
WJONES- you have the right idea here. I feel all too often people crap all over each other on this forum and it gets brought down to a flame war. We need more of your attitude here at AT to keep it positive. Thanks man

And good deal for a new poster!!!! Thanks for the heads up.

I think I must be blind or something. I don't see this deal on the site, or in the ad.

Just the D-Link 704P for $79.99 - $30 MIR = $49.99 AR.....

?

The 20 rebate is not on the site yet, but it is advertised on the last page of the circular.

Check the back/last page of the circular. It's on there and it's got the $29.99 price.

I've got a question for those who know a little more about networking than me. I cant get this router to function as a print server on computers that are not connected directly to it. I have a linksys router which connects three computers and the dlink router(by way of the WAN port on the dlink router). The printer is then connected to the dlink router and a computer is also connected to the dlink router and can print to the printer. However, the three computer that are connected through the linksys router are unable to print. The dlink router is simply being used as a print server and not as a gateway like the linksys router. Anyone have any ideas on ways to allow the other computers to print? Thanks

For those in SE Michigan, the Novi BB had more than 30 of the D-Link routers on the shelves.

I got mine

techmaster128:

You need to define printers on your computers connected to the Linksys router to print to the IP address of the Dlink router. Hope they are not factory set to 192.168.0.1. Then you need to bring in another actual router or PC to perform NAT(ting). Than you can print from all computer.

just picked this up, hot stuff man, got it workin in less than half an hour on one comp. Most of the problems were because i had to things differently with win xp.

For those with XP here are some instructions:
go to command prompt and type ipconfig. If the last 3 numbers of your ethernet card are between 1 and 199 type:
ipconfig /release
then:
ipconfig /renew

copy the ip addresss and enter it into internet explorer. Make sure you explorer doesnt try to dial a connection.
then just follow the instructions in the manual.

for instruction on how to set up your printer go here: Dlink Support Site

make sure to test a print page to make sure it works.

Just got 2 from BB, only one left on the shelf. Looks like it is going fast in bay area. (I was there at 11:10am, 10 minutes after BB opened)

FYI I bought the D-Link 804 last year and after six months it crapped out. Good news--it is still under warranty. Bad news--D-link product support is miserable. They've had the router for 3 weeks. They're pat answer is to expect 10 working days for them to process it and they are running behind.

Judge for yourself. But, it sounds like a poor company with a shoddy product.

Also, based on bandwidth testing at bandwidthplace.com, I lose about 4-5% of my bandwidth with the router vs straight through the cable modem (with cox.net)

I noticed both rebates require the original UPC. How are you getting around this to get both rebates?

I returned my DI-704 without P from last month and bought the DI-704P today
My local Bestbuy in Wilmington, DE Concord Pike has more than 20 of them at 11AM.
The price tag says $79-$30 MIR = $49 but you will get a $30 MIR AND $20 at checkout.

why can't you just buy it online and pay the shipping.

i just looked and they have the instant rebate price online.

99.99
-20.00 instant rebate
79.99 price you pay
-30.00 MIR
-20.00 MIR
------------
29.99 after rebate
+5.00 shipping (est)

34.99 total online price after rebates

is there some reason why mail in rebates don't apply online?

hope not, cause i just ordered mine online.

The Seattle BB @Northgate was out of stock ~3:00pm Sun.

Tech Question: Can the router be used as a 10/100 switch? My broadband connection isn't set up yet, but I'd like to do some Windows file sharing between my systems. I'm assuming the answer is yes, but I'd like to know before I tear into the packaging.

Thanks.

Because the site only has ONE rebate online...the $30 one.

The one store that I tried today was out of them, but I hopped online and ordered one for in-store pickup at another location. I'm sure I'll have no problems getting the second rebate form at that point (and have received my confirmation that they have it being held for me). At the time that I ordered, there was at least one other store showing them in stock on the site. (There's probably 6 or 8 stores in and around Kansas City. Believe me, I saw almost all of them the Friday after Thanksgiving!)

Alert! If you want to get the D-Link DI-704P for $29.99, which is going to be two rebates, DO NOT order it online, or order it online and pick it up on the store, but YOU HAVE TO buy it DIRECTLY from the store. I ordered one online and arrange to pick it up in the store, I was told that I WILL NOT ABLE TO GET THE $20 REBATE, because I order it online. However, if I return my online purchse, and buy one from the store DIRECTLY, then I will have two rebate forms printed from the register. THERE IS ONLY ONE REBATE FORM WAS PRINTED FROM THE REGISTER, IN MY CASE.

I am not going to return it, but can any one please post the $20 rebate receipt, or send it to DZR@HOTMAIL.com so that I can send it in as well? Thank you!

When I picked up my router, the register gave me one rebate form fisrt, then I told her the router had two rebate forms, the register gave me the second form. So I think it is no problem to get two rebate forms.
