Fallout 1 and 2 were known for their many easter eggs and other funny parodies of in-game content. It provided good comic relief and more memorable characters and situations. Have you noticed anything so far as to show similiar content?

Also, how important are your non-combat skills in the game? The original Fallout's did a great job with this by allowing many peaceful ways of conflict resolution without random violence(Which can be fun!)

So far, do you see yourself playing through the game again and again to see there different outcomes of your decisions in situations? How to you expect the replayability to be with this one?

Also, have you been able to pick up any teammates with you? How does the control system work when them if so?

This is easily my most anticipated GOTY, reading all of this isn't making the wait any easier... I was a huge fan of F1&2 and Oblivion, this will be one of the few titles I purchase at launch full price or not..

Alright here is another question.(Or few!)

You mentioned earlier in a post how you have played a lot of FPS games. You made it pretty clear though that you will not play this on PC.

Have you tried out the real-time system with combat and playing it FPS style? How is the feel of this? Does experience and skill allocation make a difference in your ability to aim similiar to what Mass Effect had? You have given us some pretty good feedback on the aiming system which I loved about the past Fallout games and I am glad that they implemented it.

As for the FPS combat component, would you prefer that style over Action Points if you were playing it on PC? I personally want it for PC so that I can enjoy both styles on subsequent play throughs.

Thanks for all of your great comments so far. I am really hoping Fallout 3 puts all of the whiners in thier place!

You make a good point about the free-aim. I haven't used it much - mainly because targetting is so fun, but also because I feel like a newbie aiming on consoles. I do think that free-aim combat would be fun, especially if you were good at it. Using the scenery and what's around you as obstacles works surprising me well (even though there is no "cover" button). I do think this would add depth and another level of gameplay - it just never really seemed appealing because I've been so happy with what I've got.

As for skill allocation, I'm still not exactly sure how it works. If I put points in small weapons, I'm assuming that accuracy and damage both go up, but I haven't really done trial and error.

Could you try playing free-aim exclusive for an hour and say how it feels, pretty please?

This is my only hold-up for getting it on the console.

Oh man I hope this game does not disappoint. The originals are so great and belong in the RPG Hall of Fame.

I hated Oblivion, so I hope this doesn't turn out the same way for me, regardless of how much I loved the previous FO games.

Though I shiver from the thought of playing a FPP game with targeting and stuff using a pad... Perhaps you could make the decision easier? Do the controls really feel natural? Or is still a mouse and keyboard the best way to go in such a game? Obviously there are games where a pad is lightyears ahead of a keyboard. Is it at least comparable here? Cause I think my PC has enough steam to push this game 1920x1200 AA and stuff at at least 30fps... And the higher texture resolution and higher AA could convince me to stick to PC. Hmm...
Well, my PC setup, which happens to be nowhere near as good as yours (8800GT SLI, E6600 OC, 4GB, Vista x64) is located in my livingroom right next to my 56" HDTV and 24" flatscreen so I do the dualscreen thing. I think my setup should be adequate to run the game. Since the game is a "for Windows" platform that means it has built in 360 controller support and I might just pick up the wireless controller so I can relax on my couch while playing. If not I'll just play on my monitor with keys+mouse, or on my couch w/BT keys+mouse.

In any event, the PC version is $10 cheaper than both console versions, has the same downloadable content the 360 version will have, and achievements too.

The other benefit of the PC version is that you will have a very active mod community if Fallout 3 peaks the interest of all the Oblivon Fans. I have not played around too much with the Oblivion Mods but I do know that they are out there and are very popular

Very constructive, specter.

I have some questions. Are there ANY graphical glitches? Texture pop in et al? Is the radiant AI toned down or is it still just as assey as in Oblivion? Is it possible to build a viable melee/thief character? Those were my most entertaining runs on F1 & 2.

True but a pic of his character would end all doubt (provided he doesn't post a pick of power armor) since all of the demos started after the vault tutorial.
