Really briefly Newegg had the D201GLY on Open Box for around $30. I tried to buy it ASAP but someone beat me to it.

Here's a really good deal if you're looking for memory for the D201GLY2.
LINK
Of course, the D201GLY2 only has one memory slot, but I plan to buy more than one.

Where did they go? Buy.com has been "Temporarily Sold Out" since they listed it.

they only seem to have them at logic supply and on ebay oem.

apparently they are available at a bunch of places but only in 10 packs (which i think is what logitech and the ebayers are selling after parting the 10 packs out)

Man o man are these servers ever slow.

Anyway...

No worries, hans, I recently stocked up on these combos. They'll play better with better video anyway. I'll snag a D201GLY2 for a fax machine later when these boards lose any if any scarcity.

Finally in stock at Buy.com for $73.24 shipped.

I decided to bump this thread since the one in the Motherboards forum will likely be buried in a day.

What a shame that it's $84.33 shipped. If it were really $73.24 shipped I'd order one today.

thats for like antonline or something. look on the right side of the page, and it has a link to the "buy.com" sourced one which is still "on order"

If you click on See all 2 New you get something, but I don't know if to trust it after reading about Buy.com's transaction rules and their abandonment of responsibility for a successful transaction.
Maybe I'm just blowing it out of proportion, but who is ANTOnline? Not a very impressive purchase history. I wonder about the listing where Seller Information is Buy.com.
Anyone know about this? I'm wondering if I should wait for a know reliable merchant.

Anyone know any good sources for SFF PSUs?

I'm thinking of getting the d201gly2 from logic supply but the PicoPSUs are $39 and the accompanying power bricks are about $28. I can almost live with $39 for the PicoPSU but adding the brick on top seems like a rip off.

That's about the best you can do, although it might be easier to find the power brick somewhere else. Might be able to find one on ebay, just make sure you're getting one with the right size barrel. Bought a few cheapies myself, only to find out they were too small to fit the center pin on the Pico.

Oh, and you also have to get a P4 12V cable, the board I have wouldn't even POST with the Pico until I added that cable.

The heatsink is removable, but finding a replacement might be tough. It uses hooks and loops on the board similar to the way i865/875 MCH heatsinks were held on.

HOT!

Alright, now I'm gonna have to really think up of excu^H^H^H^H, ahem, I mean great reasons why I need one.

Except, gonna be leaving to visit family in a week, so can't order anything unless it is guaranteed to get here before I leave... plus I won't even be able to mess with it for a few weeks... maybe by the time I get back I will have found a use for one.

Nice price, just wish I didn't have three extra mini-ITX boards already. Really need to get back to case designs for them.

Ok I have a kinda noob'ish question. If I buy something like:
http://www.ncix.com/products/i...420&manufacture=Apevia

Which has a 420W PSU does that imply it's drawing 420W all the time or that the max it can provide is 420? Is there such a thing as under-loading a modern PSU? (ie: If I only have it loaded to say 40W ...... ~20W for D201GLY2 + a drive or two, will that be an issue?)

I asked someone that same question and they claimed that you only use the amount of power that your system will draw. Personally, I think there must be some amount of overhead depending also on the efficiency of your PSU.

As for under-loading a modern PSU, I can't answer.

Edit: As to buying a case for a mini-itx board, I would start by phoning logicsupply.com and asking what they would recommend for the D201GLY2.
I would also consider using a laptop hard drive, atleast until the SSDs drop in price (assuming you won't need to store a great deal).

I never heard of cost central. I wish I had. Good resellerratings.com, free shipping... nice.

Newegg just offered the Retail version for $2 above the OEM price.

I have the new "Little Valley" and I'm pleased... pleased in-so-far as:

1. Drivers for Windows 2000 Pro are on the CD which I believe I could use on a D201GLY.
2. It seems to run cooler inside a case with a fan than inside that same low-profile desktop case with the top off. I didn't expect that.

Disappointed in the onboard video. Sure, I wasn't expecting much but I would have liked something higher than 1500 3DMark2001SE points.
My 6150 by Foxconn delivers 5k points give or take 500 depending on the cpu.
My target audience is as a first computer for kids with their Learning Center CDs. I think I'll install that now and see how it does. My guess is the GLYx will deliver enough for that software.

Anyone else have any impressions?
BTW, I ordered the OEM from newegg only because the Retail version wasn't available yet. I don't think it really matters, although the oem came in a big brown cardboard box with a smaller UPS box inside. It rattled about with the other things with no additional cushioning. I feel lucky no damage was done. For the $2 more, I suggest going with the retail version.
If I buy more I'll order from costcentral (thank 6pak).

I was looking at the D201GLY2 for a linux firewall. Can anyone tell me if they have a working version of linux or unix on this system? It does look like some people have tried but not sure if it was successfull. Thinking about using RH, Gentoo, or SmoothWall. Also still unclear what this processer really is. It states it is a single core which supports either 32bit or 64bit. Does this mean I can run either type of OS.

One more question if anyone has tried. I was thinking about making a media center out of something small like this. Not to sure if this would work well or if there is something better to look into. Any thoughts.

If you're aiming for low-end media center, then this combo will fit the bill. You're limited to 2 channel stereo for the audio and despite the relatively "fast" Celeron 220 CPU, it's still mile away from Core 2 brothers for video decoding.
