Yeah my cousin had one of their cases back in 07 and the whole thing somehow collapsed when he ejected the DVD drive...

That's funny because a piece of the case actually did fall and hit his cat...didn't eviscerate it though.

I thought of that, but it is B&M and not everyone has a Microcenter near them.

It's $8 more, but I'd go for this AMD chipset-based mobo rather than the nVidia chipset-based mobo. It would put the Day 2 build a few bucks over-budget though.

The items you linked to could go out of stock, deactivate, raise in price, etc.

That guide provides an amazing outline for every single price point and is constantly updated with new pricing info/parts/etc..

Im updating mine every week, next week when there is a new sale or something is out of stock my builds will change.

Guides like that are useless for someone who doesn't understand what it says. People dont want to look trough a guide and try to piece together parts that will work, most people would have a build that just works.

Even /g/ denounces the falcon guide because it is too dense and broad for the average user, is it good? yea it is a good resource but it doesnt include sales, rebates, or anything BUT what is on the guide, for a $344 build they use a $60 case, why use a $60 case when a $40 would be just fine? Save the 20 bucks, but it doesnt say that anywhere, it only gives you one or two options for most categories. And there can be something better that is on sale that isnt covered in the guide, im not saying dont use it, but it isnt a good replacement for a true finished build with current pricing and availability.

Yeah, seriously, dude. I am new to this shit and I for one don't appreciate having to worry about folks steering me in the wrong direction because of simple bias. People who have things to say about their own experiences are useful.

I bought this combo with the biostar and am building tomorrow night (my first build). If anyone can suggest things for me to look for to know whether my board is bad or good, I would be really grateful.

That HP is actually tempting - but it has only vga out - I would have to add a vid card. OTOH it has a memory card reader and 6 usb slots and lightscribe (not that I'd use it). It is a pretty good deal.
