Been assembling parts for almost a year and have come close to putting together my new daily driver. The wife stole my g35 so I have been driving my 300zx. Ive put 20k trouble free miles on the z32 and all it does it do exactly what I want. I also shut down everything outside of my buddies lingentfelter twin turbo. I want to do some upgrades and paint on the Z so I needed something to drive this summer so here comes a ls1 1996 240sx.

Last winter I picked up a s14 that wasnt running for a few hundred and started planning for a ls1 swap.

When thinking about doing a v8 240 I thought about a few different setups. After ruling out a toyota and a nissan v8 swap I ended up going with a ls1 for obvious reasons. I decided on a 2002 SS auto dropout with 50k miles since it was an auto and I the likelyhood of revving abuse and 5k rpm clutch drops is nil on a auto. I pulled off the 4l60 and put it in storage for a future iron block 4.8 turbo project and started sourcing a t56.

In the last two years the prices of used F-body t-56s has skyrocketed so I went with a GTO t56 and Z06 clutch for the better gearing over the f body and the streetability of a stock clutch capable of 500hp. Almost went with a diamond stage two but I dont plan on going over 500hp on this car so it didnt make sense.

I have ordered ls6 timing chain and a melling 10295 and HP tuners as well as water pump and gaskets plus some hooker swap parts.

The cost of a ls1 swap has dropped a ton in the last few years outside of the tranny. A guy in florida makes plates to put a z32 or a z33 trans on a LS1 and I almost went that route till I found my T56 for 1400.

more picts and info to come.

Thanks for starting a build thread, did you get rid of your shop?

Fun times ahead
I have been trying to do a bunch of little things early and purchased almost entirely plug and play stuff including a wiring specialties wiring harness and the mishimoto fans will be pwm controlled so things will be as close to stock like operation as possible.

Thanks for starting a build thread, did you get rid of your shop?

Ya it became too stressfull and dealers poached all my guys after I would develop them. Good times...

Now I am much less stressed and sleep and enjoy my kids.

Took me a while to like cars again and almost sold all of them. Down to 4 personal cars now.

Must be tough, I sold my Integra, someone at work made an offer too good to pass up. I'm trying to decide what to get next.

wrx treating you right this summer?

Yeah still running strong no issues except I'm wanting a different kind of car, either convertible roadster or GT sport touring style car.

Compared to a RX-7 LS swap, is the S13/14 chassis easier to do the swap in?

Why does that car have a giant clear dildo where the shifter is supposed to be?

FC is a little cheaper swap but its almost the same.

Oh I don't think it's as crazy as you'd expect. It seems like small block Chevy swaps have always been the low cost horsepower mod. It's just continued into the 21st century is all. There were just so many of them made and it has spawned a huge aftermarket for power adder parts.

I think it's more amazing how turbo charging has brought the 4 cylinder crowd into the same speed brackets as the large displacement motors. It's always fun to watch old American iron line up next to an import putting down massive power. Pass Time on Speed was my favorite show just for that. Trying to guess the 1/4 mile times and then seeing who beat who. I also liked the camera shake whenever he'd fist bump the contestant who won the pass. "BOOM! Cash is good!"

Also, as a GTO owner, I approve this swap .

Wasn't this what Alkemyst kept swearing he was going to do before he caved and bought an M3?

Your z32 is sick. I love the tall spoiler some of those came with. Reminds me of the 3 post talon spoiler. Is it turbo? 2+2?

I had s 1989 240SX and it was a great handling car, it did not cum with a clear dildo, but they weren't available back then. There's a top ten list of things to rice up a car and clear dildo shifters are number 9, just after truck nuts.

 LOL! I was thinking the same thing.

How much does the Nissan motor/transmission weigh compared to the LS1 lump? Will the rear end handle the extra power?

Keep the pics coming!

Has it had some front end collision damage? That right front fender looks like it was repainted badly. The red front bumper is a dead giveaway too.

Yes indeed, the most neutral handling car (stock) I ever owned. I was able to get my 1998 Acura Integra GSR to handle as well but I had to lower it to do so.

I was in Daytona for bike week not long after picking up the 240SX and a bunch of us got into a clover leaf race getting on and off I-95 and one of the guys following me on a motorcycle almost lost it trying to keep up with me doing about 80mph in the clover leaf. There just aren't many road bikes that can keep up with a good handling car in a turn -- a straight away is one thing, but in a turn a car can easily smoke a bike and the 240SX was one of the best.
