I go to other sites for review/news beside DailyTech. Engadget is one of them.
This gives me a wider view independent of what one tech site says, a bigger picture per se.
As always product bias will exist in all them.

I used to read DailyTech regularly until they turned it into Jason Mick's blog.

I couldn't take the sheer stupidity emanating from Jason Mick's keyboard. Why they keep such a bad writer on their staff is a mystery to me.

Likewise - I used to go there fairly regularly when their coverage was more focused on tech versus Jason Mick spouting off his daily dose of verbal diarrhea. His writing is pretty terrible and he doesn't even bother to try and make it look like his articles aren't opinion pieces.

Arstechnica is pretty awesome though.

What was the deal with DailyTech anyway? They were affiliated with Anandtech, and IIRC had a similar logo style. Yet they supposedly weren't owned by Anand.

I stopped reading the site because of Jason Mick. The community there is a cesspool of idiots arguing over the pettiest subject.

Mick's "articles" are beyond hilarious to read. He types for the sake of typing -- I'm pretty sure he gets paid by the word and/or the number and/or size of pictures included in his "articles".

I still go there most days just to check in and see if I missed anything from other sites. Usually not though.

This, ever since they were removed form the homepage when Purch bought us people keep talking about it. What was it and how did it relate to AT?

Kristopher Kubicki is listed as the editor in chief on the site, and as co-founder (along with Anand?) on LinkedIn. I think he has been out of the picture there for a while and Jason Mick is running the show. Up until shortly after the sale of AT, www.dailytech.com and www.anandtech.com resolved to consecutive IP's, or maybe they were off by one. DailyTech was likely hosted on AnandTech hardware, or at least in the same rack.

Kubicki is apparently behind Dynamite Data as well.

This is from his LinkedIn profile.

From one of the threads:

from the about page:

About DailyTech
DailyTech is the bleeding edge for technology news and discussion. The Chicago based publication blends mature, cohesive technology and science news with self-moderating forum discussion ? creating a truly unique and exciting atmosphere to learn, discuss and read about what's happening in technology today. DailyTech's writers and editors stem from a deep pool of former product managers, industry insiders and managers whom have turned instead to the world of journalism.

About the Editor In Chief
Kristopher Kubicki is a six year veteran to online media, and has been involved in the PC industry in one form or another for over a decade. DailyTech began as his vision in early 2005 and later that year DailyTech was already syndicating feeds out to its affiliate channels. Soon after graduating from the University of Illinois-Chicago's school of Math Computer Science, Kristopher became an unlikely candidate for frequent media attention when he began publishing PC channel trends and pricing based on algorithms and programs he designed as an undergraduate. Much of this original work was either absorbed by commercial software or applied to other publications, and as such, DailyTech marks another completely new venture under Kristopher's management. When Kristopher isn't working on DailyTech, he enjoys delving into the world of information security and data mining. You can frequently find him speaking at Chicago area Linux User Groups and Data Mining SIGs. When he just needs to relax, Kristopher an ardent traveler, avid science fiction reader and sushi buff.

About the Senior Editor
Tuan Nguyen comes to us from various publications and has been writing about the industry for over eight years. A seasoned industry professional, Tuan has held technical and management positions at IT companies ranging from manufacturer, to distributor, to press and has likely designed a product or two that many readers still use today. With a unique blend of perspectives, Tuan's writing and editing covers all sides of the industry for DailyTech. In his spare time Tuan finds himself abreast of current technology trends and writing about industry quirks on his personal blog. He is currently teaching himself Linux administration and web programming in the hopes of putting together something artistic. Away from all the spiraling dynamics of the computing industry, Tuan enjoys time snowboarding on Canada's chilly slopes.

About the Senior News Editor
A proud member of the NC State Wolfpack family, Brandon Hill has had his finger on the pulse of tech industry since joining publishing his first news article 1998. He has covered all of the latest breaking news and milestones that have occurred in the industry over the past six years, and that experience transfers over to DailyTech. When Brandon isn't reasearching news for DailyTech, he's either spending time with his loving girlfriend Elizabeth, chatting on various automotive related websites or tending to his eBay business.
