When daisy chaining 2 GigE switches, is there any foreseable advantage to using a 1000BASE-SX SFP module as opposed to just using a copper Gigabit Ethernet port? Distance is not an issue.
The latter operates at the same speed, is cheaper, and eliminates the chance of an SFP failure. I'm thinking copper makes sense, but just wanted to check.
On that same note, how does one determine how much bandwidth the link between the 2 switches should support? Single port for 1Gbps, or EtherChannel for 2, 3, 4, etc.
