DaLai Lama is coming to my school

He's a remarkable man just for his humanity and approachability in his position. Someone who will be remembered historically.

I'd be interested to learn what I could from him about Buddhism and health.

Many people grossly underestimate Buddhism IMO. This is an easily understandable failing when you're indoctrinated with one religion and culture and imagine a war with other cultures and religions due to the simple workings of ego, but there's much to gain IMO by looking at different religions and examining the common threads.

Man...that is a big deal and a honor actually. Try reading some of his books and you'll probably understand why. Its sad that people will probably get more excited if Micheal Jackson came to thier school then someone like Dalai Lama. I remember when the public was more interested in Princess Diana's death more then Mother Theresa's.

AWESOME!! People like you need to be more cultured! Some Tibetian monks came to my school a few years ago and did a giant sand mandela that took a few days. I couldn't believe how intricate it was.

Buddhism is probably my "favorite" of the major religions. It teaches peace, tolerance, and does not discourage questioning one's own beliefs.

Huh, looks like he's going to be about 90 miles away from my college. I haven't heard anything about him coming here though.

I think true Christianity teaches the same thing, but ignorant people have skewed it, but I digress. It is true that Buddhism though is a great philosophy to follow.

I saw the Dalai Lama speak in Portland several years ago at the Memorial Coliseum. We had to sit in the nosebleeds because that place was PACKED. Truly a very intelligent and spiritual human being. Quite a rare combination these days (or any days for that matter).

Do you dispute the fact that pre Communist take over of Tibet in 1950, Dalai Lama was the ruler of Tibet? Do you also dispute the fact that Tibetan Buddhism arose on the basis of feudal ownership of land and serfs? If you don't know these basic facts, then the ignorance lies within you.
