Hey guys,

I just graduated from college with an Industrial Engineering degree and got a job offer for a company down in Dallas offering $50,000 base+standard benefits and 401k for an entry level inventory/process improvement position. With regards to my background, I've got good internships experiences, within the US and internationally, so I'd say I rank pretty good compared to my peers. I looked at salary.com and this seems lower than norm although when I used salary.com for my hometown, it didn't look right so not sure how accurate it..

I'd appreciate it if any locals could shed light on what the pay scales are and how is this offer for entry level positions.

50k for the Dallas area is not bad. Assuming you have no debt, you can borrow up to 2.5x your salary which is $150k. You can buy a new 3 bedroom home for that much.

Of course to qualify you need to 2 years stable employment, 2 years rent history and 3 - 20% down.

The cost of living is also reasonable and there is a lot to do. Traffic however is another thing altogether, especially if it involves Highway 121.
