Greetings all,

Does anyone know if this is recoverable?

photo of damage

Basically we had a rainy weekend and somehow the water got in unfortunately.

At my aviation club, we have two of these, so I'm assuming they're just digital prints on a canvas?

It's a beautiful canvas though, but it's just somewhat of an eyesore to see the streaks from the water

Ideas for some sort of recovery?

(It's been here for a while, so no idea on the source, the painter is a Richard J Flory 2000, and google doesn't say anything about him)

With my very limited understanding of art restoration and repair (History Channel and the like ), my guess would be that anyone that would try to fix that would simply repaint the damaged areas. Probably be cheaper to try to replace the entire thing (assuming digital print).

Repairing it would entail painting in the damaged areas and would probably be pretty obvious unless someone REALLY skilled does the repairs.

Assuming it's a digital print (as it appears to be) it would (probably) be significantly less expensive to just get a new print if you can find the guy.

Edit: looking at your picture closely, do I see horizontal streaks in the bottom right? Given the date on it, those streaks and how apparently easily the water damage occurred, it was pretty likely printed on one of the early generations of large inkjets. The vibrance of the color in the piece is actually surprising if it's that old, though. If you aren't able to find the painter (copyright holder) you might be able to have it photographed/scanned, retouched and reproduced and end up with something better than you have now.

Except having it scanned or photographed and reprinted is ILLEGAL!

It should have been given a clear coat of some sort so that the paint itself was not exposed.
