Damn 6 days to finish your taxes...... have you done yours?

I finally got around to sitting down with the W2's.. In 2001 i earned *ahem* less than 6000 dollars. That is excluding mr. bush's 300 dollar tax rebate and my school fees rebate of 220 (lifetime learning credit).

Now i understand that if you earn less than $xxxxx you get back all your taxes paid (which in my case is about 500 dollars (not enough for me!!!)).
I also bought a bike in that time (yes that was stupid.. but I can make payments.. that is what counts).. When I bought the bike i got back 90 dollars from state of california for the title registration as a rebate for buying a new vehical.. i havent added that in.

So the question is how do i maximize my return..
I was thinking of filing online (like i have done for the last 3 years or so). Online filing helps speed up the process..
Last year collegeclub had a free online filing for its members.. and used it to my maximum.. any idea if any other site is offering free online filing?

If not I will pay yahoo and use their E-File to file it.

TGG

PS: mods.. can we have a sticky on this sometime.. so people can be reminded to file taxes.. or should i make a new post for that.

yeah the post office has everything.
you know I am going to screw yahoo and file it the old fashion way.

I was checking the IRS forms (can get it on the web from IRS's site) and for a moment it scared me saying i owe the IRS 1100 dollars.
Then it turns out my rough calculations were screwed up.

I got to sit down with pen and paper and figure out what I am doing for this years taxes..

so far I think I get back around 500 (tax estimate - rough).. which though is not enough but its better than last years 25 dollars state and 3 federal.

When you say "you", do you mean me personally? If that's the case, no I haven't, nor do I plan to. Thank goodness for fathers who file for their sons. I'm too young to do stupid math like that. Instead, I'm paying a school 5x what I make in a year to tell me what math problems I should do. I can't wait for the rebate though.

Go to , Turbotax , click on Do your taxes, there is a link towards the bottom of the page that says Quicken tax freedom. You can E-file your federal and state taxes for nothing as long as you made under 32,000.

I did my taxes back in Feb. and I have done taxes for 20 other people this year For free!!!!!

im in the same boat as ffmcobalt (have an accountant friend in portland whos doing my taxes)

however ive got an automatic 2 month extension (cause i live out of the country)

and filed an extension form so i wont have to do taxes until september when i return to the states.

not to mention the fact that i dont have to pay taxes this year because i lived and worked outside the country for over 330 days.

gotta love it!

Mine are done but not filed. They will be filed on the 15th as I have to pay money and will not pay it one second before I have to.

I've got my federal return finished, have been procrastnating on the state return. I'll likely get that knocked out tonight and send stuff off tomorrow.

Looking forward to my refund (should be enough to kill off the one credit card I have with a balance, leaving me with only a mortgage debt-wise)

I sent in state and fed middle of March but since I can't efile my NRA status it's going to be a good month before I see fed and probably another two before I see state.
