I keep the radio on all the time but man, GNR gets REALLY repetitive. As a bonus though, try listening to GNR after killing Three Dog. Not a big deal but it gave me a chuckle.

The songs are real. And fucking awful. The "Way Back Home" song is by far the cheesiest piece of crap I've ever heard. The "food is the spreadiest"? DIE. Same goes for that one that goes "I'm as corny as Kansas in August... no more a smart little girl with no heart, I've found me a wonderful guy!" Smart? Can't have that. Now that you're safely married off you can get back in the kitchen like a good girl.

I turned the radio off since I started the game. It was horrible. I thought that was the actual music in game. Thank god it wasn't.

I actually never turned in On during game-play, it's a feature in the game that for me is useless until we can replace the radio tracks with our own music, but then again doing that is already possible with the regular music excluding the radio, so the radio is basically useless, unless I want to listen to quest-related or just some random holotapes and maybe one day try to decipher the morse signals (some if not all of them must have been figured out by now?).

I played the radio for about 2 seconds at the start of the game and never did it again.

For some reason I feel the overwhelming urge to import the Robocop theme into the game.

"man-servant".....that must be the old-timers way of calling someone your bitch......

Which Megadeth uses as the opening on their Peace Sells album.

I have some much better songs in mind for the radio - nearly everything on it irritates me after hearing it a few times. I would put on:

Temptations - Build me up Buttercup
Looking Glass - Brandy
Anything by Louie Armstrong
Johnny Cash

Edit: I do like the "I don't want to set the world on fire" song.

I kind of wish Three Dog would shut up sometimes though - his howling gets really old.

You're probably thinking of the enclave propaganda radio station. GNR doesn't come out very well at the start of the game unless you are closer to their studio(quest related).

They missed out on the absolute perfect song for this game...

Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World

Anyway, I hated the radio. Repeated itself way too often to be considered fun.

I usually play music in the background.

My favorite is Red Hot Chili Peppers - Scar Tissue whenever im killing feral ghouls. Happened by accident but just seems fitting.

Usually just put some songs in a playlist on shuffle. (genius on itunes works nice for this)

The best part of GNR is hearing the news update about the quests that you have done. I think it helps give a sense that you are affecting the world, if not in a very minimal way. I mean you do have a strong impact with some of the decisions you make (like with Megaton) but one of the things I have found in all of the Fallout series is that once you clear out the quests for a town or area you pretty much ignore it for the rest of the game.

Cover of Civilization. Interesting.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dcYrG6CRi4

It's hard to find a decnet version on youtube. According to one poster:

"The Universal Music Group sent a nice message that this record is under copyright still. Appearently in in 1998 The music industry Lobbyied to extend all copyright to 2067 under each states individual law. So any recording made in the last centruy is no longer public domain and any 78 RPM record even though it may be older than a copyright law is now protected. So any record company that posesses these 78 RPM Masters can ask for these videos to come down. Thats is why there is no longer audio."

Ridiculous.
