So my girlfriend picked me up this evening around 10pm and we were headed off to a couple drinks. Anyways, as we were driving, a stray cat jumped to the road and we believe we probably drove over her legs I immediately looked back and she was trying to crawl to the sidewalk I asked her to pull over and went to check her out and she was just laying there I took her in my hands, tried to check if there was any external bleeding and if I can see any bones were broken but couldn't see any but she wasn't moving except her eyes and tail I took her to safe spot nearby (no pet hospitals to take her to at that time here in my girlfriend's town) and hoped for the best

So a night that was supposed to be a night of drinking for fun turned to an ugly night for me that ended in drinking due to sadness After I had a few drinks, we left and drove back home... it was about 2 hours after the incident happened so I wanted to check up on the cat to see whether she was alive or dead... found out she was gone so I am kinda hoping she got up and can live but I am not sure... I am so upset right now

I sometimes think that I am over-emotional (if there's such word) when it comes to animals and I know that there are millions of people dying each year due to poverty (as I worked at The World Bank's Human Development Programme for a year) but it's just the way I am

It even felt worse when I found our cat waiting infront of the door for me at home She jumped on my arms and cuddled...

Tell me something that will help me feel better guys and gals... thanks

So let me get this straight. You went out in A CAR, DRIVING (at 10:00PM, obviously an "evening party time out") with the intention of DRINKING and then DRIVING HOME and you're upset about some stray cat you ran over?

How about the people you and your GF could've killed on the way home after you'd had your fun?

Oh wait a minute, that's right; your GF doesn't drink and/or you were gonna leave the car in the parking lot and cab it home, right? Whatever.

I'm glad you squashed the cat and got depressed; your drunk ass could've hit me on the way home.

My girlfriend didn't drink, as you can read from the 2nd sentence of the 2nd paragraph.

Also, not everyone on this forum lives in the conservative U.S. and upto 2 beers is well within legal limit in Turkey, so get out of this thread you asshole. I hope you get screwed by a cat in your sleep.

You said nothing about your GF not drinking:

You said "After I had a few drinks." How likely is it that you and your GF go out at 10:00PM and only you drink? Not very.

Stray cats are just moving speed bumps. 10 pts. Too bad you didn't take out any homeless people or you would have won the "cleaning up the streets" award.

Uhhh... do you feel any better now?

You should have run it over again, or at least killed it with a bat or something instead of leaving it on the side of the road.

Well I would guess homeless people at least know about the danger of cars but can't say the same about animals ...

Of course animals know about the dangers of cars. Why do you think Deer have a "Deer in Headlights" look?

They react that way to any bright light.

I betcha that cat is fine. I posted a thread a while back when i ran over someones dog. I drove over it with both right tires, and when i got out the thing was spasming, and then it stopped moving everything from the neck down. I figured i had broken its back and that it was fucked. Turns out it was just in shock, and that it just had a broken hip. Pretty amazing for having run clear over it going 30mph. Animals are pretty resilient.

lawl. I've driven into town plenty of times and left my car there to pick it up the next day after drinking. Also, notice he said "a couple" of drinks. By definition, that means two. More than likely, that is well within the legal limits.

I hope so. I am gonna drive there tomorrow morning and look around to see if she is anywhere around... I hope she was just in a shock!

Yeah. Just be thankful you didnt have to confront the owners. Nothing like ringing someones doorbell at 10pm and telling them you just ran over their dog and then have their kids start crying.

I remember once driving behind a car that slowed down as a cat started walking across the road. It slowed to about 5mph, and I don't know if it was intentional or what (maybe they were assuming the cat would get out of the way), but the car's back tire slowly rolled directly over the cat's back. The cat flattened in the middle for a second and then when the tire got off of it, it sprinted towards the other side of the road and ran off.

Maybe it had enough adrenaline to power it off and then died later, but that cat seemed to be fine for the few seconds I saw it.
