It's -17C now and its supposed to hit -20C overnight. The windchill is -30C here.

I realize its colder in other parts of the country - ahem Red Squirrel - but I hate the cold. The heating system in my apt building is having trouble keeping up. I wish they would fix it.

On the other hand, I am preparing my pot roast so I can have it for lunch tomorrow.

That will help take my mind off the cold and as a plus will make my apt smell good.

Yep.

It warmed up though , this was yesterday:

Though I find anything after say, -25c all feels the same. Balls cold.

I badly have to insulate my basement as well, I'm probably loosing quite a lot of heat through those walls. Just cinder blocks and that's it. I framed last year so it's ready for foam now once I do electrical.

I live in the GTA and I was walking outside for 5 minutes and my hand completely froze.

Pretty much, any exposed skin will freeze quite fast in those temps. Heck even -1 without gloves can suck after a while. It's why I don't do work on my own car. I rather pay someone that will do it inside a heated garage.

looks like your solution is to have a heated garage.

Oh I want to do that eventually. Need to bring in more power, install plugs and other electrical, than insulate/drywall. Also need to add a ceiling and blown attic insulation. Though, my garage is too small to work on a car, so it would be mostly just a workshop type area. I could maybe park my car in it to let snow melt off it when it gets really bad though. Like right now I have this thick layer of snow/ice along the trunk and part of the back window since the last time we had freezing rain. I wont be able to open my trunk until like June or whenever the snow starts to melt. I'd have to leave it parked in a heated garage for a night or so to get rid of all that.

Carwash could work too though...I may have to do that.

Winnipeg has ya beat. It was -54 with windchill this week. Think it hit -37. It was bitterly cold. But yes, cold is still cold. Who cares if it's -30 or -40, still the same.

-4F here right now. Its freaking nasty!

I let my car warm up for 20 minutes this morning and it didn't even feel warm. It finally got above freezing in there right about the time I got to work.

Roads are shit and won't get any better til the it warms up enough for the salt to work.

I haven't seen my testes in days. I hope they are ok.

While not as cold as some places, my testes retreated after walking outside this morning.

Yesterday morning:

Just an FYI for people that own these type of La Crosse clocks, they bottom out at -22. Which is strange considering they are made by a company in La Crosse Wisconsin.
