The drive home was fun last night. I took the back roads as I usually do. There was so much blowing snow on the roadway, I didn't break 30km/h until I got back into town. Took me 45min when it normally takes 20.

Niagara got hammered yesterday from the tail end of that snowstorm that's hitting the US. They had the QEW going into Toronto closed most of the afternoon for a 30 car pile up.

9F here, which usually isn't as horrible as it sounds, but 79% humidity makes it horrible

Nein, but I know where that is :^D

I'm not sure where they get the coordinates from. They may be generalized, or perhaps it's a civilian weather station, but I don't think Meteorologisk institutt uses private stations.

Btw, you should be using openstreetmap.org. It not only doesn't track you, you can add to the dataset, and use it freely, including for commercial purposes. You might also appreciate it for mapping your adventures offroad.

-4F here right now. Its freaking nasty!

I let my car warm up for 20 minutes this morning and it didn't even feel warm. It finally got above freezing in there right about the time I got to work.

Roads are shit and won't get any better til the it warms up enough for the salt to work.

I haven't seen my testes in days. I hope they are ok.
I hear ya.

That storm that hit you and me on Wed/Thurs was very unpleasant. They didn't plow any roads here til last night.

It's -17C now and its supposed to hit -20C overnight. The windchill is -30C here.

I realize its colder in other parts of the country - ahem Red Squirrel - but I hate the cold. The heating system in my apt building is having trouble keeping up. I wish they would fix it.

On the other hand, I am preparing my pot roast so I can have it for lunch tomorrow.

That will help take my mind off the cold and as a plus will make my apt smell good.

It's times like these that I'm glad I moved to BC. Way to cold and hot in Ontario.

We got a bit of a chill here, It was about -6F when I woke up, maybe -4F when I started my drive in to work. (-20C).

I had a jacket with a hood and gloves, so I was not uncomfortably cold.

That said, the forcast for Sunday is truly cold (Sunday's low -20F (-29C), Monday's rom -15F ... (-26C)

Anyhow, the furnace doesn't have any trouble keeping the house warm. I had to have the igniter replaced last year, and I had them replace the flame sensor too, now it works quite well. (last winter, it died on Dec 24th overnight. It was expensive, but the HVAC guy came out on the 25th and did the work...)

59 Here.. idiots are wearing down jackets and 10 layers

it happens when your body gets used to a temperature.

60 degree day in the middle of the winter - everyone throws on shorts/t-shirts
60 degree day in the middle of the summer - everyone throws on jackets/hats

I actually did a double-take at the temperature this morning and had to make sure my temperature wasn't set to Celsius.

My favorite is the hipster morons. As soon as the temp dips into the 50's they put on their North Face jackets and skull caps. Meanwhile I'm still wearing shorts and a short sleeve shirt. Then you look at them and you can tell they are sweating their asses off.

I don't understand it.

I don't understand it, either. How is that, at all, related to hipster-ism?

I'm never comfortable in shorts and t-shirt when it's in the 50s. If it's sunny and calm, perhaps, but I'll likely rotate between wearing a hoodie and taking it off.

I personally would know I don't need to resort to a North Face jacket (which says nothing - they offer very light jackets). Skullcaps... meaning more like simple beanies/toques/knit caps? If my head's cold, I'm wearing one.
Granted, I doubt I ever have at 50ºF, but I have in the mid 40sºF and almost always when it's colder than that.

Some of us just aren't as warm as you.
Wait...

I hate the hipsters that go around wearing shorts and short-sleeve shirts when it's in the 40s. I can take one look at them and realize they are either cold as hell, or incredibly unhealthy or fresh out of Siberia.

I'm always dressed warm when I'm cold. I don't care how you personally feel - if I'm cold, I'm dressing accordingly.

Mother effer. I put on my slightly warmer pair of jeans today and felt twice as cold as yesterday... No idea what the temperature was yesterday morning, but today, it was -24 C. Holy. Shit. My legs were frozen after 10 minutes outside. Need pantyhose.

I'm sure they're fine. They're just too small to see with a naked eye... :whiste:

Mid 50s. Texas suxxors though dawg. I'd much rather be driving on icy roads and shoveling snow all winter.

If it is 50 degrees outside I'm wearing something with long sleeves for sure with a t-shirt on underneath and jeans... not shorts.

If it is 75+ I'm in shorts and t-shirt.

It was like 45 degrees last week and I was wearing shorts. It is a tad bit colder this week here though (it was 1 this morning, but warmed up to around 19 at lunch). High of -7 on Monday. Definitely looking forward to that. =(

Heat wave here in Finland. The all-time highest temperature in my region recorded in December (+6 C) was almost broken this past December. Temperatures have been hovering around 0 to -5 C for the past couple of weeks and it's been cloudy every day. There's even no snow in the south of the country. I'd like it to be colder. Happy to be south of the Arctic Circle tho, sunrise 10am sunset 2:50pm. Up in the north the length of "day" was 10 minutes, sunrise at 12:25pm and sunset and 12:35pm. The lack of sunlight really affects my moods, makes me tired. I'n a couple of weeks polar nights are over even in the northernmost parts of the country. Summer midnight sun, I miss you.

I blame Canada for sending the cold air down, we need to border them off from the states.
