You need an stronger chemical. I recomend fuming sulfuric acid. Just don't add it all at once.

go to a hardware store (menards, home depot) and look for something called "mosquito dunks" or whatever else it may be named. Its basically like a charcoal briquette that prevents mosquito larva from hatching, and it doesn't harm any other living things.

It doesn't prevent them from hatching, it's loaded with a bacteria (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) that excretes a crystalline toxin that kills the larvae. Works great!

Heh, during the construction of the Panama Canal, so many people were dying from yellow fever & malaria, they ended up spraying oil all over standing water near the construction site. The oil slicks prevented the larvae from breathing, so there was no need to light the oil on fire. It has other less desirable effects on the environment, though.

yea i saw that katrina dirty jobs too. apparently they got big time mosquito problems from all those abondoned pools.

well i dumped detergent in there, can't really check till it stops being all cloudy from being stirred

You know they have mosquito control insecticides that kill the larvae and do no harm to the water or the environment.

They come as a ring you just throw in the pond or as a liquid.

what i need is a heating element, sort of lie those cooking ones that are like a cooking coil but in rod form with handle. a giant one to stick into a pond and raise the temperature till they boil alive

i'd use fire but theres vegetation around the edge

heh it was pretty mucky before too so fish wouldn't have lived long. it was more of a decorative fountain in the past really, so its not that big. it dries out after a while, its not more than about 3/4 foot deep.

liquid detergent...then softner, i'm going to increase the toxic stew till they die.
