I figured I am their ideal customer. I pay a ton every month, have a 10GB limit and use around 1-2GB a month at most.

So I call them up, threaten to cancel and see what they can do for me, and they said, nah nothing we can do. I was hoping they'd offer unlimited or free tethering or even unlimited text (I had a 1000 limit.)

Man, they must be making loads of money to not care about keeping one. :biggrin:
Needless to say, I cancelled.

Now to decide on what phone I want next (on Sprint, where I have an active account where I pay for my mom.)

It was some double data + 2GB bonus deal (when the salesman screwed my account royally and after a BBB complaint) when I got my Galaxy Nexus, so I was paying for only 4GB really.

FYI, FCC ruled that Verizon must allow 3rd party tethering apps. And that it cannot take any action on customers who use 3rd party tethering apps and are on limited data plan.

So buy a copy of Easy Tether and you're good to go.

I just switched from sprint to verizon cause sprint was horrid. Hope they get better, they had good customer service, just couldn't deal with 56k speeds.

their LTE is a joke in my city

If you are on 4G, enjoy it while you can. You care going to get bumped within a couple minutes and your phone will drop data while it tries to acquire 3G. That process usually takes 3 minutes. Its quicker to just turn off data, then right back on to get bumped to the front of the line again.

That Tmo plan looks amazing, I've been eyeing it for months. I wish I had the smarts to get it working with an iPhone 5.

verizon iphone5 is factory unlocked by default and is compatible with tmo/att 3G+ speeds (HSPA+ if available in your area)

I got my Galaxy Nexus because they were doubling data for free too... paid for 2gb and was getting 4gb... turns out the discount on data through my company wasn't applicable which was contrary to what the sales guy told me and so they fixed that by giving me both the monthly discount and unlimited data. I only use like 2gb a month anyway though. I wouldn't do any of this if it weren't for the company 22% discount... saves a lot with a grandfathered family plan.

How do you use so little data? I use around 6-12 GB a month... I am gonna miss my unlimited plan so much when they take it away....
