damn. Verizon wireless isn't interested in wooing customers.

I figured I am their ideal customer. I pay a ton every month, have a 10GB limit and use around 1-2GB a month at most.

So I call them up, threaten to cancel and see what they can do for me, and they said, nah nothing we can do. I was hoping they'd offer unlimited or free tethering or even unlimited text (I had a 1000 limit.)

Man, they must be making loads of money to not care about keeping one.
Needless to say, I cancelled.

Now to decide on what phone I want next (on Sprint, where I have an active account where I pay for my mom.)

LOL- just download a tethering app from the App store. They can't tell. Paying for tethering is for suckers.

Verizon doesn't have a retention department. They figure you'll be back... Or maybe you won't... Whatever... Unfortunately for us, they've got "the network," and they know it.

Also, tethering is now free if used within your existing data allowance. (Exception: unlimited plans; you don't get unlimited tethering for free. Adding unlimited tethering to your unlimited plan is still an additional $30 per month.)

well yeah apple battery life has always been good... even ipads last a long time watching movies. Android on the other hand...

Yup. The life on my HTC Incredible was just horrible. Any phone that requires me to carry around a separate battery pack to complete a day of normal usage is very poorly designed.

Use Verizon phones and the Verizon network and jump to PagePlus.

Being an occasional phone and text user with no data needed I pay $6/month ($80/yr. for 1000 minutes) and use the Verizon Network.

I pay the same with t-mobile prepaid on a flip phone.

I see no reason to have a data plan. I might find myself addicted to checking it every 30 seconds, showing off by deploying it on the table at work meetings and hoping people will be jealous and ask me about it, walking down the street staring at the thing, obsessing about data allowances, worrying about battery life, obsessing about upgrades, worrying about losing it, wasting time trying to integrate my email and calendar with it, feeling compelled to be "on" 24/7 and answer every text within 1 minute, inventing new ways to integrate its features into my daily activities in order to feel justified paying a higher monthly fee for 2 years...
