i seriously don't want to study for organic chemistry and thermodynamics right now. granted thermo is pretty easy for me, but i really need to memorize SN1/2 E1/E2 reactions and all that for organic.

then i have transport phenomena on tuesday, and that will be one of the worst. wednesday is microstructure of metallic materials, which will be ungodly hard. a 70 on that test is an A :Q

thursday = day off

friday = introduction to polymers. shouldn't be that bad now that i have a feel for the tests. i'll still need to study my ass off though

When I switched from Engineering to Business I pretty much stopped caring about finals.

Too easy

Haha. I was done on Thursday; went home yesterday for winter break. Anyway, good luck.

PS: Organic chemistry is fun (but I'm a biochem major).

I'm still a senior in HS, so midterms in January. It doesn't feel like we've learned a whole lot so far - can't believe it's December already. And I still have 7 college apps to go before the end of the month...

non-statistical thermo is pretty easy. Its commonsense (after going through Tester, Modell). Transport Phenomina, on the other hand is all empirical, so there are a bunch of formulas with wierd constants in them which have 50% error.

OP: O.chem is a drag, you just gonna have to do your best and thats that. Its a shitty course. Ochem is the only course I got less than a B+ in and I was fine with that lol.

I took my Electrochemical Engineering exam on friday, that was my only exam (Master's student) this semester and it went ok. Its a mix of Circuits, Reaction Kinetics, Thermo, Transport all in the same basket

Fenixgoon, wait til you hit up nanocrystalline properties of metals. Fun stuff.

i'm also a senior in highschool and it doesn't feel like we've learned a whole so far this year. cause we haven't. the stupid teacher's strike is finally over by force after two months. i don't wanna think about the amount of homework i'm going to get.

as for final exams, yeah they are a bitch. i have a lot of matriculation exams and although HS stuff is ofcourse easier, some of the stuff can be pretty difficult.

Funny, I love Organic Chemistry, it just makes sense if you know the theory behind it. I get completely lost when you factor math and equations into Chem though.

Must be a Biochem thing

I hate chemistry (AP chem). We're doing organic chem unit currently, too much junk I'll never need.

Just wait until you get in the real world.

Out of three classes, only one had a final, and I was finished with that on Wednesday. I'm just happy I get to take a CS class next semester.

Like I say in ever finals thread, quit crying. You already know the material. Refreshing your brain should be easy.

Luckily, yet somewhat unfortunately, I had to drop Multi-Variable as my Professor and I didn't quite see eye to eye on the definition of credit for a problem. I already took World Regions exam (Core requirement for engineers), I have my Engineering Education Exam on Wednesday in the morning, and then I have my Second Semester Physics course later that day. I had a C++ exam that was optional, but in order to jump from an A- to an A I need a 90 on the test, and I didn't feel like putting the effort in to studying theory that I am never going to use again.

Maybe the OP goes to clown school?

well for the mechanical thermo, it's all about heat engines, compressors, refrigerators, etc - all your data is in a nice pretty table. as long as you know how to work the table and your device, it's not that bad. i took a basic mech. thermo class.

i'm taking thermodynamics of materials right now - are reactions favorable, predicting phase diagrams, enthalpy/entropy of solution, etc. as a note of interest, it is a thermodynamic necessity for materials to have defects, as they lower the free energy of the system

sounds like grad course material. i'm going for a combined bachelor's and master's, so i'm sure i'll get that eventually.

until nanomaterials produce something useful, i'm going to claim they're as hyped as DNFE

Stop complaining. I have to grade finals, that's even worse! It takes at least 5-6 hours to grade one question in a class of 200+. We don't have a lot of TAs, so we'll each end up grading 2 or 3 questions.

This is in addition to studying for finals (grad quantum, grad classical, and some grad math class that I don't care about) of my own and having students e-mailing me constantly to ask if I've seen their final yet. No, I haven't seen your final exam, and I wouldn't tell you what's on it even if I had!

I had one student come to me suggesting that he shouldn't have to take the final because he's such a good student. His average right now is about a 70%, which is just barely above the average. Unless you're batting near 100%, don't come to me suggesting that your final exam be dropped.

What's nice is that I'm leaving town for 3 weeks as soon as I'm done grading (which will begin after I take my last final). Even if students e-mail me, I won't be able to tell them anything; they'll have to take it up with the professor.

Don't just memorize the Sn1/2 E1/2 stuff, there's too many ways to get it wrong. Better to understand the chapter. If it's a strong base, it does Elim. If it's a weak base, it does Sub. Unless it's secondary. Then it's a crapshoot :-D

Sn1 and Sn2....must be 1st semester organic huh?....If so...2nd semester gets far more bearable....dealing with reactions of cyclohexane and even some early biochem stuff (AA structures, naming and whatnot)...good luck...i remeber when i was in your place and its not pleasant.
