As many forum members know, I am a professor in electrical engineering. Dr. Pizza and I share very similar professions. I have had some good finals stories. One this week! I had a student call me at home (no less) to ask if he could take a final early, because he got the date wrong, and he's leaving with his girlfriend to Mexico. I pointed out to him that I only have been announcing this final weekly for the last month, and that the date was well publicized by me, the department and the university. I told him that I could give him a make-up final early, but it is significantly harder than the normal one (he's borderline failing). He said he'd talk to his girlfriend about it...

10 minutes later ---> "I'll take the final early"

now for metals - it is ungodly hard. the teacher gave us the final from last year. i'd be lucky to get a 40 on it taking it right now. it's just THAT hard.

8 am exam on the last day of exams and its on sat

almost as bad as the 4pm sat exam

Just do what I do: relax and do a "light load" studying.
It's been a whole semester. If you didn't learn anything there's not much you can do. Write cheat sheets for practice purposes and let it go.
This has been my studying mentality for the past 2 years (undergrad) and it's about to continue for the next few (grad). Although I'd probably stress more on the relaxing and lighten the light load.

Transport? You chem E? What school?

materials engineering @ drexel university

transport is a required class though. honestly the material was interesting, but talk about a balls hard class.

Yeah, so I finished my finals on Monday and have a paper due on Friday. Thank GOD my professors decided in-class finals would be better than making us come back for finals week this semester, hence the only one I had this week was yesterday. Yay for being done with college forever.

Good luck though, sounds like tons of fun.

Fortunately, none of my classes have cumulative final exams, but instead, only cover the material we've dealt with since the mid-terms.
My Supervisory Management final exam was last week.
My Graphics and Design final model and graphics were turned in last week.
My final completed drafting drawings are due tonight (if the instructor makes it back from Oklahoma in time)<me is praying for an extended ice storm>
I have a final (last) test in Materials of Construction on Wednesday.

At my school, exams can be anywhere from 9 AM Tuesday morning until 10 PM Sunday night. Luckily, I don't have one of those Sunday exams. But yeah, it could be worst.

You could change your periods to font size 14 (if your profs are old, and you turn in printed sheets). There's no visible difference but the added point can accumulate into several pages.

Some of us, probably just me, haven't been to class since Thanksgiving (Canadian), so I don't know the material. I usually learn it a day or two before the exam.

for me, it's all the fact that they are LARGE portions of my grades.

metals - 40% i think
transport - 60%
organic chem - 40% i think
polymers - 30-40%
thermo - 40% i think

personally, i like getting A's, which means i need to do well and know the material rock solid.

Tell me about it, my finals vary from 40%-50%.
