I finished a 10 page paper last night. I am working on a 12 pager now, and I still have a 15 pager and 6 pager all due by Tuesday. Damnit.

I have Diff EQ monday, the only final I'm worried about... My professor is absolutely terrible. My other classes:

Discrete Mathematics
Integrated Arts & Humanities (university requirement)
Einsteinian Physics

Should all be really easy... physics I need a 60% for a 4.0. Yay for high 90's on all the previous exams.

Nope. Thermo has been fairly easy for me, too.


My take: if you really know the material (ultimately, this is the whole point of taking a course, isn't it?), then a final exam should be just as you say - annoying, but not something to be worried about. It'd be like taking a test on eating a bowl of cereal. It's something you really know how to do well, but you don't feel like taking the time to prove it - that's the kind of annoying that a final exam should be.

I don't like my finals schedule this week, because one of them is tomorrow, and another is a few days before finals week starts. The one tomorrow is a banquet, being held for my Effective Speech course. We voted as a class on what form the final exam should take on, and as soon as an option involving food was presented, that one got a nearly unanimous vote. I don't know what it is, but it seems like college students exist in a perpetual state of starvation. Any mention of food, and they swarm in like crazed sharks. Anyway, during the banquet, everyone needs to give various little speeches. Sunday was the only day that everyone had available.

The other "early" final is for Theater. The registrar apparently messed up, and did not schedule a final exam time slot for our class, so we have to do our final scenes during the last two class periods. Oh well, at least it's one less thing to have to worry about during finals week.

Just wondering, how do you guys actually study for finals and how efficient are you at it? I have 4 finals in engineering to study for and have allocated 2 days per subject. So far, I havent actually done many questions...just reading over previous finals and various assignments then mentally "doing" it without actually doing it (if you know what I mean). I can cover more material that way, but since I'm not actually doing any questions by hand, I dont think my brain retains the information that well. How do you guys motivate yourself? At home, there is too many distractions and if I find a really quiet place at school, I dont think I can sit still for hours at a time due to the lack of distractions.

I did well enough in most of my classes that even if I didnt take the final Id still have a B.

in my metals class, the midterm and final = 85% of the grade. so i can't afford to bomb the final

5 yrs remove from college and i can honestly say i dont remember a thing i learned from college. those final exams were a waste of time. nonetheless good luck!

This is in addition to studying for finals (grad quantum, grad classical, and some grad math class that I don't care about) of my own and having students e-mailing me constantly to ask if I've seen their final yet. No, I haven't seen your final exam, and I wouldn't tell you what's on it even if I had!

I had one student come to me suggesting that he shouldn't have to take the final because he's such a good student. His average right now is about a 70%, which is just barely above the average. Unless you're batting near 100%, don't come to me suggesting that your final exam be dropped.

What's nice is that I'm leaving town for 3 weeks as soon as I'm done grading (which will begin after I take my last final). Even if students e-mail me, I won't be able to tell them anything; they'll have to take it up with the professor.

I have to grade finals as well and completely agree that grading is worse than taking.

My finals went well so far.

Finished my Human Anatomy & Physiology I final last night, and completed the last lab exam today. I wish I had prepared as hard as I did for the other lecture tests as I did for the final, as I pulled an A on the final exam.

The lab exam was pretty easy, although I was getting a bit sick from the smell of whatever they use to preserve the sheep brain. Next semester is going to be more gross, as I get to dissect a cat...

Psh.. at least you get to study. Just blew my first exam Friday cause some genius decided to end classes on Wednesday and give us a whole 1.5 days to study (60% of reason is I suck). Luckily two term projects/assignments were due Tuesday and Wednesday so I was too tired to do anything Wednesday. I feel bad for some people who had 2 exams on Friday; thanks to them, my first one got pushed to the morning when I'm drunk and tired as opposed to a nice 2pm start like they usually do.

for me, it's all the fact that they are LARGE portions of my grades.

metals - 40% i think
transport - 60%
organic chem - 40% i think
polymers - 30-40%
thermo - 40% i think

personally, i like getting A's, which means i need to do well and know the material rock solid.
