Damnit, I hate it when my roomate listens to his christian music

The title of this thread should've been more like; "GOD DAMMIT I HATE......"

I believe, therefore I read, but this whole "christian music" thing is commercialism in diguise. Whether your pomped and dressed up and going to church... your still doing it for show.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Just for the sake of argument, you might listen to some of Steven Curtis Chapman's songs. Beyond being a good vocalist, he writes his own songs and is a talented guitarist who does a lot of his own guitar tracks. Lord of the Dance and Speechless are a couple of my favorites.

Advice from the other side of the fence: tell your roommate it is annoying you, and don't get defensive if he says your music annoys him. Do unto others... Work it out.

I concur on SCC... I think his Greatest Hits album and latest disc (Speechless) are awesome! This is coming from someone who isn't much of a fan of Christian music. He's a great songwriter.

Having the eclectic taste in music that I do I love all music. Christian music is just as varied a type of music as any other.. I mean there's the Gospel stuff to like the Newsboys, to like Creed, and then to POD.. so it's kinda hard to criticize an entire music group without find something you'd actually like... not trying to impress any viewpoints here but hey, don't know it before you've tried it all..

Actually Dabanshee two (if not more) of the major Christian artists/bands in the U.S. have origins in Oz, Newsboys and Rebecca St. James. So Christian music does exist down under, maybe they just leave before you notice them.

Some Christian Music sucks, some is great. I'd say the suck to great ratio is no different in the Christian music market than in the secular market.

Here are some good &quot;Classic&quot; Christian rock type bands:

Resurrection/REZ Band-A hippy biker mid 70's - 90's metal/blues band that put their money where their mouth is. They founded and may still maintain(I dunno if they still do) a number of charities in Chicago.

Daniel Amos-A late 70's-mid 80's country/punk/rock/techno band. Their album &quot;Vox Humana&quot; is considered as an excellent auto soundoff disc. If you can find it on CD, get it.

Larry Norman-A hippy rock musician who got his start in the 60's. A little off the wall, but good stuff. He was a true pioneer that was met with a lot of opposition from Christians.

If you're on Napster you can find all these musicians, check them out!
