the title says it all! Flip. Why can't he use headphones.

Christian music sucks, take out the lyrics, and the music still sucks.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. My opinion is that it doesn't suck. Although, I do like Gospel a lot more than Contemporary Christian music.

yah, respect is mutual, maybe he dislikes whatever you play on your stereo/computer. having to put up with annoyances/pet peeves that roomates might incur is part of a dormitory life, you are becoming a more considerate or tolerant person in the long run

LOL, ZeroCool,

At least he's not throwing fits trying to make you go to church and ish, like one of my roomates.

Yeah, some of that CC music does suck, but some of it was ok. I kind of liked Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant, for example. (Not that those are great, or even good examples, but those are the only two I can think of right now.)

Edit: Just remembered Jars of Clay and D.C. Talk

Yup, Jars of Clay, DCTalk, Newsboys... and on th softer side, Amy Grant and Susan Ashton are nice. I've seen them all in concert, too... good shows, all.

Lots of Christian music is excellent.

It's all Mr Isla was allowed to listen to growing up.

When I met him every single pre-set button on his car radio was set to the Christian music station. Same thing in his parent's cars.

Now THAT annoyed the heck out of me!

Maybe you can get him some earphones...
OOOOPS!!!

That is what I get for not reading before I reply....

How about getting some Ozzy and blasting it...
That might bring the issue out into the open....

Depends what we're talking about here. Isla mentioned Jars of Clay. This is a good group - if we're talking about the crap you see on infomercials with 15,000 people swaying and singing some ungodly (excuse the pun) filth then this is not good music

This is hilarious! The closest we come to Christian music in Oz is on the odd Christian television ad. You're trying to tell me there's more Christian bands out there?

Actually now that I think about it it's not really surprising at all. But still it is pretty amazing that it has basically no following down here.

Is there a Chrisian band in america that has 3 members I think, a rapper, a 'soul' singer, and someone else who I cant remember? or is that way to vague and they're all like that.

Oh I've seen that add, at about 4AM or something

Yeh, WTF is 'christian music'?

Other than that add that Bojo mentioned that you see at about 4AM, 'christian music' just doesn't seem too exist in Oz.

I spose that's because the general attitude to religion down here is pretty uncommital.

It all seems so bazaar to us the American obsession with religion. Here in Oz it seems half the population are agnostic/athiestic & most of those that consider themselves christian are just born Anglican or Catholic & never think about religion again. You ask the average Anglican or Catholic in Australia if they beleive in god & the odds on the answer would be "I don't know, maybe, who knows? what's it matter anyway?". Or something along those lines, or maybe a uncertain "I s'pose so.......I never really gave it a thought".

Then, of course, most americans are not the progeny of convicts.

Everyone is entitled to their own music preferance. That's what makes music an ideal form of individualism. Don't sweat his style just cause your's is different. Instead, compromise the situation.

Creed, POD, likeDavid, and (Cheville) are some relatively hard christian bands...i don't listen to any of them.

But like someone said, blast some Ozzy/Sabbath...or even the "ungodly" Marilyn Manson. He should freak out and start crying.

Heck, that's what i do. my roomate doesn't listen to any music, but i blast my satanic stuff when i want to (when he's out of the room...i turn it down when he gets back...or i leave).

A roomate can be a real penis in the eye.

"Then, of course, most americans are not the progeny of convicts."

Actually you may be onto something Cxim, What with America's history of settlment by the pilgrims, & those escaping religious persecution & settling in Pensylvania.

Whereas here in Oz, all the colonies, except one were penal colonies. Plus the times were different, later Georgian & Regency Britian was very unreligious, relative to the perid that the British settlements in North America occured. Then just as the convict era was ending, the goldrush was beginning.

However most Australians have either no convict blood or very little convict blood. Plus there's been huge numbers of immigrants from the Mediterainian countries, Eastern Europe & THE Middle East, since the end of WWII & from the 70's many have come from Asia (plus thousands of Indian refugees from former British East Africa settled here too), making Australia the most multicultural place in the world.

I know a lot of people who listen to only Christian contemporary music... Some of it is kinda' cheesy, but there's some good stuff. There's always (what I consider) an excellent message behind it, so hey...

I've listened to relatively raunchy music my entire life, and I (to an extent) still do even as a Christian. I'm usually more interested in the music and talent of the instrumentalists than in the thoughts behind most of it, though...

I try not to offend my non-Christian roomates by not blasting rough music too loudly. It sounds like you guys are just trying to be rude and get a rise out of this kid.

Hey - roomates blaring music can make you hate ANY type of music. Get this - I absolutely HATE Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album! I know they are rock geniouses, etc etc... but you tryo to still like them after an entire semester of a roomate coming in drunk at 2:00am and putting them on FULL volume on album repeat. Any attempts to turn it off were met with a drunken brawl, which got old fast.

actually Daba, I don't think convicts have much to do with it... It is probably because of the sheep...

man sheep marriages have never been accepted by the Church... & like Henry, if the Church doesn't approve... get rid of the church... Baa Baa !!

Best thing for a roommate that plays that 'stuff' is to play some satanic messages in music (backwards)

another one is to buy a bunch of small cheap dolls. take some pictures of the roommate & cut out the face.. glue the cut out face pics on the dolls. then leave some of the dolls around, in a not too obvious way, with pins stuck in them & other things... like arms & legs off... etc... copy some notes in Russian in cryllic & attach to the dolls... does not matter what the notes say.. the cryllic looks evil by itself...
