Anyone playing this? I think the song mix is probably the best of any console version so far.

After you unlock them all of course. :frown:

The challenges are ridiculously difficult by the time you're on the last planet. It would be nice if there were an unlock code like Ultramix has.

I bought this but only played it once or twice. I used to be a big fan of DDR and I get all the PS2 mixes, but it seems like they are starting to get old to me now. I think this will be the last mix I purchase.

Ever since I found out that playing DDR on a homemade metal pad is still NOTHING like the arcade, I've basically stopped playing DDR at home (nay, even at all). Unfortunate

A lot of things do if the arcade pads aren't well-maintained. I've been to arcades where arrows ghost like mad, don't respond to anything less than a full-weight stomp, or simply don't work.

I picked up SuperNOVA the other day.

Yeah, the song selection does seem pretty decent overall, but Konami is really starting to piss me off with this method of unlocking. I'd much rather go back to how it was in DDRMAX and DDRMAX2, where essentially you just had to play enough to unlock most of the songs. The "mission" modes are interesting and enjoyable, but being forced to do them just to get songs sucks.

Agreed 100%.

If I pay $50 for a DDR game I should be able dance all of the songs without having to jump through all of the tedious hoops.

So if you had to recommend the best DDR, it would be MAX or MAX2? I want to get into it but don't need to buy Supernova if it sucks. Rather have more choice of songs without it taking me forever to get there.

Once the songs are all unlocked, I'd say SuperNOVA has the best mix of songs. In second place would be DDRMAX2.

I'd say this is pretty accurate. Additionally, if you're just getting into DDR, unlocking stuff via the mission mode probably won't be quite as annoying as it is for a veteran. A lot of the frustration (at least in my experience) comes from being forced to do songs on lower difficulty settings.

The other thing to note about SuperNOVA is that it doesn't really repeat any songs from previous versions. Most of the other ones do this to a greater or lesser extent, including some of the more popular ones or variations of them.
