Well, won't her moving to Nascar help eliminate some of the stigma about her too??

If she really is a good driver, we'll find out more in Nascar than IRL, correct? 'Cuz she'll have to weigh the same amount as every other car out on the track in Nascar where she *didn't* have to add ballast to compete in IRL, no??

(I'm making assumptions 'cuz I was told that NASCAR has to race equally weighted cars)

I just want to see her. I could care less what medium she's in. Hence, NASCAR will make a killing. you hardcore fans should appreciate something like this, it'll bring more interest to the sport. Who knows, maybe once I wipe the drool off my jowl I'll figure out what NASCAR is really all about

It's the Michelle Wie business model. If you can't win where you're currently playing attempt to move up. That way you get a grace period where nobody wonders why you're not winning as you're supposed to be "adjusting to the competition".

if she's good enough to compete, let her in. i see no reason to bar her from potentially kicking guys' asses. just means they have to do even better if they want to win.

I dont really care about what she looks like and I care even less about NASCAR but I hate the unwarranted hype she's getting. She should jsut quick racing and model since obviously all her publicity is from her looks and not her driving.

Think she'll be able to compete in full contact auto racing? Every NASCAR driver wrecks at least once during the season. The might not go as fast but it's a lot more intese with 3 wide driving, bump drafting and getting run into on purpose (As happened yesterday at the Chicago Land Speedway with Gordon and Kensick) I wouldn't expect veterans like Tony Stewart to cut her any slack either.

This is not your Father's NASCAR Capt. Bubba. Most members of the racing teams have degrees in Engineering and Computer Science with the drivers being the ones with the least amount of education. It's all highly techinical these days unlike the days of Junior Johnson and Cale Yarborough

I felt the same way about Anna Kournikova. Never won anything remotely worthwhile in tennis yet was the most famous female tennis player on the circuit for years simply because she was a pretty face. Just goes to show you that if you can compensate your talent with looks if you have them. Sad but true...

It's about speed, teamwork, technology and extremely skilled driving.

I read somewhere that 1 year she spent more time modeling and doing publicity stuff than playing tennis.

Well, you can't really blame her considering she was more talented and made more money modeling than hitting the tennis ball. Her looks got her the endorsements, not what she did on the court. If she were ugly, no one would even know who the hell "Anna Kournikova" was. Can't blame her though. She just marketed what she was born with and the world ate it up.

Maybe compared to other racers but I still admire anybody that can drive a car over 200+ mph no matter what sex they are. At kleast in NASCAR you usually don't get badly injured when you wreck..usually.. but in IRL and FI anytime you wreck you stand a good chance of dying.

It sure isn't. I loved it back when NASCAR was actually tricked up stock cars.

yeah driving a car 200+mph for around 400-500 miles is not an easy task. not to mention do it as well as they do.

I was not even old enough to drive a car back then. But the last weeks race was pretty exciting.

Uh, you stand just as good of a chance of dying in NASCAR. There have been just as many deaths there as in F1 or the IRL over the past several years.

Its a little old.

Remember in NASCAR you're much more likely to get t-boned more than once.

Personally, all of these people moving to NASCAR sound like they can't hack it in the league they're in, so they want to go somewhere they might have a chance of competing. If you kept up with F1, you'd know that Montoya basically wasn't even going to get a ride in an F1 car (wanted too much money and he just doesn't perform to the level he should, not to mention all the accidents he's been involved in which he never accepts he's even partly to blame for), so he had to figure out an alternative. However, I do think that both of them will fit better in NASCAR, so maybe it'll be a win-win situation.

They've been trying to get a women in Nascar for years. They've stuck a few in the cars the last couple years with very little success. Rightnow its Erin Crocker in the truck series who hasn't done much. Its her rookie year but with the equipment she has she should be doing a little better.

That tactic works even better in the world of business where skills aren't so obviously measureable like they are in sports where there are clear winners an losers. That's just a crummy fact of life.
