Anyone actively playing DAoC?

As in "actively" or "ever"?

A lot of us played it for a long time. But they messed it up pretty well with bad expansion packs and by having like 4 or 5 different versions of the game. Almost everybody moved on to WoW and lost hope for DAoC once Mythic 1) was bought by EA and 2) got close to releasing WAR.

it's my longest played mmo ever. i played it from about release for about 1.5 years.

thinking about trying it out again. I did try the trial a few times over the years but I couldn't get back into then. downloading again to try once more. Just trying to find some other people who play and maybe that would make it more enjoyable.

I used to play. Still one of my favorite MMOs I have ever played. Where are you currently playing?

They're supposed to be rolling on a Pre-ToA server where the rule set is rolled back to the glory days of DAoC. It was my first MMO ever. Ended up getting bored with it and the guild drama so I moved on years ago.

That actually sounds really interesting. One main reason I always leave MMOs is not having a group of people to play with. It's hard for me to first start a game and find people already playing to become friends with or level up together. I like the whole "community" aspect of the games and I rarely find that and end up cancel subscriptions.

I'm updating as I type this. I've been looking at the camelotvault forums and it looks like the origins server keeps getting pushed back.

I wouldn't count on the Origins servers being launched before WAR. In fact, rumor has it that they're not even to be expected this year.

I actually reactivated one of my accounts not too long ago to get a feel for where the game was since the last time I played it about 2.5 years ago because I wanted to try the origins servers when they came out.

I rolled on a classic server and aside from the graphics looking really dated it was almost exactly like I remembered the game. I rolled a scout as I am familiar with alb and have never played an archer class in any game I have played and wanted to try something a little different.

Leveling was pretty fast and the new newbie zone they created was interesting. I got to level 42 before I realized by buddy flaked on coming back and quit as I didn't feel like playing solo through everything.

The whole impetus of reopening my account was the origins server concept but now that they have pretty much blown any chance of firing them up anytime soon I see no reason for me to play. I think my subscription ran out a week or so ago.

Oh and just as an FYI you are better off going with a whole new account if you don't plan on playing any of your old toons as you will get a free month of play with it. If you reactivate an old account they will charge you a months subscription fee. I reactivated 3 accounts in total trying to figure out which one was my main and got hit with the fees 3 times.

Pont, I'm debating starting up my old account ... I have 5 50s on it (a lot more in the past, but sold those accounts.)

The game is fun as hell, with 4 of my 50s being on the "Classic" ruleset. I wanted to play Origins, but with the delay announcement, I'm better off just waiting for WAR. I think the game is a lot more skill oriented than say, WoW, because of the crafting system.

If I did come back, I'd probably start up a Friar.

AHHHH yes, DAoC... it too was my first mmorpg before I headed out to try out FFXI and beta for Eve Online then moving to Eve...

DAoC was awesome! Pre expansions, RvR was the shit. I forget which server i was in, Palomides I think it was, and I was a Mind Control / Body Sorc. I had the greatest time there with great people.

It dissolved after Sidi expansion and especially the retarded Trials. I came back for a brief moment during their Frontier expansion, but didn't like the lay out at all or the new rules.

I'm sure my lvl 50 sorc still exists. I had a sick setup too. Both a hinge making metal bot and my sorc was a perfect Tailor. Wow, i made sick plat on DF runs too. Great times indeed.

Every so often I think about coming back just to see who is still aroud, but the idea of paying for play doesn't fly with me anymore. MMORPGs is such a waste of time too so that idea is out.

DAoC was my 3rd or 4th MMORPG, but it was the one I played for the second-longest amount of time, second to Ultima Online.

It was a heck of a lot of fun back in the day. However, they made a lot of bad decisions with ToA and Catacombs.

I will probably try the Origins server when it comes out (though I am of the thought that New Frontiers WAS superior to OF) as they're reversing a lot of the changes I thought were pretty crappy.

Druid is by far my favorite class, with my best character being a Nurture Druid. I kicked ass.

I been playing it since it launched. Lately I been more focused on AoC though. DAoC has the best RvR game play of any MMO but sadly its player base is quite small now. My home server is Nimue. I play Midgard.
