Just got back from Best Buy B&M where I picked up Dark City for $5.99+ tax. Great movie, the dvd is definitely worth 6 bux. According to www.dvdtalk.com the deal should be nationwide.
I thought Dark City was MUCH better than The Matrix.

I don't think the The Matrix can compete with Dark City on most fronts. DC is just a better movie, and I honestly believe that without bullet-time, The Matrix would not be thought of so highly (while it was original, they dumped the concept in the second film...in other words, it got old). The look and feel of DC is much better, and really draws the viewer in. The same director and cinematographer that did The Crow, Alex Proyas and Dariusz Wolski, respectively, also directed DC. If you enjoyed anything about that film (esp., with respect to the look), you might like DC (Dariusz Wolski also did Pirates of the Caribbean if you need a recent reference).
It also has a great first shot as the camera moves in through a window. Right then, you know this is something different. If you're a film buff, the style alone -- lighting, sets, camera, etc. -- will have you watching it multiple times.
Hey, it's $6. Blockbuster and Hollywood Video charge, what, $27 to rent a movie?!?! If you're still on the fence, I'll throw out a "cheap thrill" bone...two words:
"Jennifer Connelly"
