How did batman and rachel survive the drop off the building when joker "let her go"??

I was kind of wondering about that myself. They fell a long way and Batman didn't deploy his wings or a parachute or whatever, and they just slammed into a car.

batman might have deployed his wings, but they couldnt handle the weight of both rachael and batman, so the wings just slowed them down a bit instead of allowing them to fly.

ah ok that makes sense.

This was the only moment of the movie that I can recall off-hand that was really a "oh come on now" moment. With the amount of damage done to the car, there's no way they wouldn't be seriously injured. However, I have no problems suspending disbeliefs for sweet comic book movies - so rock on Batman.

I'm also inclined to believe that his suit is capable of displacing blows/impacts, so he was able to slow their fall somewhat with his cape/wings and then break the fall with the suit absorbing much of the impact - which would help explain why he survived a fall later on and Dent did not (although Dent's fate is also up for debate I guess). Landing on a car would also help seeing as how it can give way much more than concrete would

Sounds like another episode of Myth Busters.

I wonder if Mark Hamill could play the joker, he does the voice for him in the animated series.

Robin Williams wanted to play the joker too...

how 'bout more magic tricks?

His first few seconds of screen time, I said to myself "I'm not sure if I'm going to like him..." Then he did the disappearing pencil trick, and that thought went away immediately.

awesome movie! i can't wait to see the numbers this movie brings in. i loved every part of it and did not want it to end, i just wanted more and more!

about harvey dent, I think they wanted to leave it open as to whether he was dead or not. i don't think they wanted you to think he was dead or he was alive, that way they can kind of do wahtever they want in the next one. personally i don't think he's dead. batman surived that fall no problem and dent could have just as well. also remember, they covered up gordon's death like it was nothing, so they could easily do the same for dent.

a question i had ... why did bruce wayne ask lucias to write his name down when he quit?

So it would destroy the computer system.

That's what I was thinking also. Bruce knew he was crossing the line, and he wanted to have a back door that totally took the system he setup down after he accomplished what he wanted to do.

Fox said he would not work there as long as that machine was there, so Bruce told him to type in his name to destroy it. He's going to need Fox to create a new Batmobile anyway

Mark Hamill's voice for the Joker is fucking awesome. I just watched Batman Beyond Return of the Joker again, great cartoon movie; watch it uncut. He kinda took a bit from Jack Nicholson's Joker, but built on it. He's kinda old though...

Well first off I just have to say that I cannot stand when people try to attribute famous quotes that are at least hundreds of years old to stupid video games and movies and stuff. That is a classic philosophical paradox. Trying to attribute it to a stupid video game like WOW is just insulting, and I would question the intelligence of anyone who would attempt to do so.

As for the movie itself, it was pretty good, but I still have the problem with these sorts of movies suspending disbelief when you see Batman having 20 chances to just kill the freaking Joker and he always lets him go based on some misguided morality. Its like all the stupid bad guys from bond movies telling Bond their whole plans and then letting him get away. For such a "dark" movie it really hurts my ability to get into it when the main character is moral to a fault.

even though that the person hasnt heard of those quotes before that were hundreds of years old, but heard them for the first time in WoW makes you question their intelligence? thats just stupid IMO.

btw, saw the movie. loved it. probably my fav movie this year and iron man is right after it.

and if batman killed the joker during the first chance he had to, im sure like 1/4th the movie would have been just gone and you wouldnt see the joker going to jail, etc.

edit: spelling, added more stuff

Ha.. I thought of WoW too, guess that means my intelligence is questionable and for playing that stupid game. Hope you don't feel too insulted!

Best scene from the whole movie was clearly when the joker is leaving the hospital dressed as a woman in knee high socks and mens dress shoes, blows it, and runs away all gitty and excited

I guess my intelligence is questionable too for playing a STUPID video game like WoW.

The movie tried to follow the comics. If you know anything about the comics, Batman doesn't have the balls to kill Joker since they are dependent on each other. All Bruce Wayne has is Batman. The Batman wouldn't exist if there weren't villains like the Joker. The psyche of the Joker isn't like your normal street criminal.

yes, FWIW that does make me question your intelligence, its not exactly an esoteric reference out there, I mean if I quoted the preamble of the Deceleration of Independence and someone though it came from a video game wouldn't you think they were pretty dumb? Obviously its not that famous, buts its still something I would expect to be in the knowledge of a well educated person, and clearly so did the producers since they added that reference into the movie.

I was slightly disappointed by this movie, relative to the first one.

This one was a great action movie about a singular event, the last one was a real expansive story.

Yeah, I did feel there was sort of a lack of direction for this movie, the first one had a clear goal from beginning to end and this one sort of meandered a bit. It was a GOOD the whole way through movie with lots of great shots, but I don't think it was a GREAT movie. There was nothing that really left you thinking "I've never seen THAT before", or anything really memorable.

I didn't watch it (I was blocking a main row and didn't want to create a backup of exiters) but my friends who were up back stayed for post credits and confirmed that Two Face is alive.

I do wonder about what they're going to do about the Joker though... Ledger's performance was... phenomenal.

EDIT: Maybe my friends were just f'ing with me because I've looked all over online and no one has said anything about it... anyone who saw it in IMAX can confirm or not?

your friends are lying. numerous people everywhere have said that there was nothing after the credits.

I stayed after the credits as well, and there was nothing. But I never even questioned whether Two-Face had died, nothing I saw gave me that impression.

I was totally blown away by the fact that they not only had an excellent portrayal of the Joker in the movie, but the fact that they incorporated Two-Face was just fricken awesome! I remember distinctly watching the old batman cartoons with Two-Face and I got completely excited and almost wanted to say out loud "OMG Thats Two-Face!!" when he was first in the hospital and I noticed the double sided coin. Absolutely fantastic movie.

Just got back.

Heath's Joker is now my most favorite fictional character. So long Neo!

He is soo pure in his evil! I mean, who laughs after being thrown off the side of a sky scraper?! The pencil trick, I can't wait to try that with my friends! And when he says, "You wanna know how I got these scars?" GOOD LORD!

Also, that sound, the Joker's "theme" was perfectly intense!

The movie made me question my self as a moral person. When the two boats had to decide whether or not to blow each other up, and that HUGE black guy stepped up and took the trigger. I thought he was going to blown the other boat up. But then...he threw it out of the window. I felt so racist and judgmental that it hurt.

I figured Zeus(Check out No Holds Barred on imdb ) was going to blow up the other boat based on the fact he was an inmate, not that he was black.
