Heath's Joker is now my most favorite fictional character. So long Neo!

He is soo pure in his evil! I mean, who laughs after being thrown off the side of a sky scraper?! The pencil trick, I can't wait to try that with my friends! And when he says, "You wanna know how I got these scars?" GOOD LORD!

Also, that sound, the Joker's "theme" was perfectly intense!

The movie made me question my self as a moral person. When the two boats had to decide whether or not to blow each other up, and that HUGE black guy stepped up and took the trigger. I thought he was going to blown the other boat up. But then...he threw it out of the window. I felt so racist and judgmental that it hurt.

I figured Deebo(Check out Friday on imdb ) was going to blow up the other boat based on the fact he was an inmate, not that he was black.

awesome movie! i can't wait to see the numbers this movie brings in. i loved every part of it and did not want it to end, i just wanted more and more!

about harvey dent, I think they wanted to leave it open as to whether he was dead or not. i don't think they wanted you to think he was dead or he was alive, that way they can kind of do wahtever they want in the next one. personally i don't think he's dead. batman surived that fall no problem and dent could have just as well. also remember, they covered up gordon's death like it was nothing, so they could easily do the same for dent.

a question i had ... why did bruce wayne ask lucias to write his name down when he quit?

So it would destroy the computer system.

That's what I was thinking also. Bruce knew he was crossing the line, and he wanted to have a back door that totally took the system he setup down after he accomplished what he wanted to do.

Fox said he would not work there as long as that machine was there, so Bruce told him to type in his name to destroy it. He's going to need Fox to create a new Batmobile anyway

Which tells me Bruce had the backdoor put in for that reason, and also the reason I previously mentioned. Bruce obviously knew Fox would consider it wrong to be spying on everyone.

I do wonder about what they're going to do about the Joker though... Ledger's performance was... phenomenal.

EDIT: Maybe my friends were just f'ing with me because I've looked all over online and no one has said anything about it... anyone who saw it in IMAX can confirm or not?

Complete shens.

I stayed and there wasn't anything.

I love this movie. Cant wait for the Bluray to come.

Cant believe Ledger is dead, he did an amazing job. I would not be disappointed if two face wasnt dead, also wish they would bring back scarecrow back, though that not likely.

I liked it, but I didn't love it. I suspect that's because I got there during the previews, got crappy seats, and sat in front of the worst examples of human scum I've ever had the pleasure of being near in a movie theater. I'll see it in IMAX in a few weeks, I think.

Grade AAA movie. But i gotta add my 2 cents.

1) I need to learn some new magic tricks

2) I can't imagine Christen Bale as Bruce Wayne. His look is too young and his personality seems a little immature from what I imagined from Bruce Wayne. I imagine Bruce more like the character from the animated Warner Bros Batman series in the 90's. I think his Batman is alright though.

3) Who was the Joker referring to as the "Unstoppable Force" and who is the "Immovable Object"? I took it to be that Joker was the Unstoppable Force, but I can also see it the other way.

4) I was totally thinking that if anyone used their ferry's detonation device that it would blow their own ship. Anyone agree?

I wonder how they'll incorporate Robin into the series. WILL REESE BE ROBIN??

I can sort of see the set up. Batman is hated in the city, he can no longer appear, so he trains someone else in his place. ROBIN!

Amaazing movie. I can't see anyone following up Ledger's Joker for a long time, which saddens me because as a reoccurring villain in the Batman comics, they really could have done a lot with him. Plus, I was kind of hoping the third movie would be an adaptation of Batman: Hush, but you can't do that with the Joker (and subsequently, Harley Quinn) gone. That would have been a tremendous way to end a trilogy (though now that I think about it, you can't do it without introducing Barbara Gordon as Oracle, which would be too much of a timeskip, so nevermind).

Pretty sure Joker is the Unstoppable Force (Chaos) and Batman is the Immovable Object (his morality). Also, Having the device blow up their own ship would be too righteous for someone like the Joker (you wanted to kill the other boat so you died yourself). Pretty sure the detonator would just blow up the other boat like he said.

This is EXACTLY what I was thinking. I thought Zeus would hit the button and their ship would blow up. I NEVER imagined he would throw it out the winder!

And I agree. Robin is about the most worthless comic-book character ever IMO. Then again, given how Nolan and Co raised the bar with the Joker, I can see them making a decent Robin.

Personally, I'm waiting for The Penguin. Now that'll be awesome.

1) why did the Italian mob help Gordon to locate the Joker?
As Sal Maroni explicitly said, even he believed that the madness had gone too far. Sure, he's a gangster, but he still has a degree of humanity that a psycho like the Joker lacks. That was the point.

Also, did you notice how the Joker turned on the gangsters and fed one of them to the dogs? (One of the points the Joker made is that dogs will eat other dogs.) Surely the gangsters hated him as much as he hated them.

While I'm on the subject, did you notice that the only people the Joker really liked were good guys, namely Batman, Harvey, and Rachel? He despised the gangsters, and he murdered his own henchmen. His fondness for Batman, Harvey, and Rachel was completely undisguised. As he explained to Harvey, when he hurt them or tried to kill them, it wasn't "personal", it was just "business". The fact that he is capable of harming people he likes is one of the things that proves what a complete psycho he is. He's the most interesting character I've seen on the big screen in a long time.

Great catch--I didn't think of that.

Best scene from the whole movie was clearly when the joker is leaving the hospital dressed as a woman in knee high socks and mens dress shoes, blows it, and runs away all gitty and excited
The movie did not make one thing clear: the Joker drove off in a bus full of people (the fifty who were unaccounted for at the hospital), and those people were the hostages he dressed up like clowns (with guns duct-taped to their hands) to use as decoys. It took me a few minutes to figure that out.

Another thing the movie didn't make clear is that the accountant from Hong Kong must have been burned alive when the Joker set the big pile of money on fire. (The accountant was tied up and sitting on top of the pile.) Was that just too gruesome to show?

I didn't think it was a bad movie but I think all of the marketing set the expectations so high. I wouldn't go as far as to say I was disappointed but I don't think it lived up to the hype and that more the fault of marketing than the director/actors/etc.

Couple random points to rant about:

1. The fall off the building...yeah, it's a comic book movie but c'mon now.

2. Maggie what'shername is just not hot at all. 4/10 Her face is kinda droopy like she's 20 years older than she is. Do not want.

3. The whole batvision/cell phone sonar thing was completely and utterly ridiculous. Suspension of disbelief is one thing, that Bruce Wayne is a master hacker and can turn everyone's cell phone in the city into a 3D mapping thing and they can put those together to see the entire city is real time is fucking ludicrous.

4. Two-Face - obviously knew Dent was in the movie but I really, really did not like the fact that he "came to be" earlier in the movie. Took away from the Joker's screen time and I just really didn't have two villains in the movie. I thought Nolan learned his lesson from the previous Batman movies that had 47 bad guys at once. There was no need to introduce a second bad guy to the movie.

5. Ledger - yeah, he was good and I would have liked to see him play the Joker role in another Batman movie (without Two-Face) but the talk of an Oscar or whatever I think is just overblown and probably more of the viral marketing.

Anyways, not saying it was bad but I think they set the bar so high (anyone read Digg? Every third article is about this movie) if I had gone in without all the hype I would have enjoyed it more. Regardless, it will make a metric assload of cash. FWIW, I actually saw it at a drive-in.

That's a good question, but I don't think so. If I recall correctly, the Joker said he was ready to believe that Dent was really Batman because Batman jumped out the window so fast to catch Rachel when she fell out the window. Only someone who was madly in love with her would do that, and Dent was madly in love with Rachel, so...it was easy to believe that Dent could be Batman. I think that's all the Joker meant.

The Joker clearly implied that he had the impression that Batman was in love with Rachel, since Batman was so eager to save Rachel's life. That is one of the reasons why he forced Batman to decide whether to save Rachel or whether to save Dent. But did the Joker have any reason to believe that Bruce Wayne was in love with Rachel? I don't think so. So I don't think he made the connection between Batman and Bruce Wayne.

By the way, I don't think there's any way the Joker could have understood all the reasons why Dent was so important to Batman. Dent was on the team with the "good guys" and he posed a threat to the gangsters, so he was on the list of targets along with the Police Commissioner and the Mayor. The Joker also understood that Dent was supposed to be a hero to Gotham, which is another reason why the Joker took an interest in bringing him down. But I don't think the Joker realized that Batman wanted Dent to replace him as the hero of Gotham so he could retire, and I don't think the Joker knew Batman's reason for wanting to retire--i.e., to be with Rachel. If Dent could take Batman's place, then Gotham wouldn't need Batman anymore, and Rachel had told Bruce that maybe he had a chance with her if the man she loved "came back", so Bruce wanted to retire as soon as he could. That's one of the main reasons why Dent's success was so important to Bruce. Alfred understood that, which is why he burned the letter Rachel wrote in which she explained that she was marrying Dent and she wouldn't be in love with Bruce when he stopped being Batman. And we understood it, because we heard the relevant dialogue. But I don't think there's any way the Joker could have known all of that.

Robin lol.....Superheroes

Great movie btw.

Joker part was awesome with Ledger, i'm dissappointed that they didn't show him locked up at the end or supposingly "killed" in the original script. I personally thought he was gonna cut his own rope when he was hanging, but i know they wouldn't allow that since what happened in real life.

The pencil trick wasn't that funny, even for the rest of the people in the theater when i went last night..it was more of an aww man type of reaction. I also liked how he dwelled on the scars thing, hencing thats when his insanity level was at the top. The hospital scene with him dressed up was just awesome.

I was hoping he didn't reveal his identity..that would just be stupid like in Spiderman..blah

Also....Batman always rolls deep with the hotties, my god lol (Dent's fund raiser)

Human scum? I don't think anything can compete with the group at my theatre of 15 Mexicans who brought 5 little kids to the movie ages 1-6.

Thanks for raising your kids to be mentally disturbed trash!

But that's how Bruce Wayne really is supposed to be. The Bruce from the animated cartoon was made more mature to be a better example for the kids watching the show. But this is a real Bruce where he puts on show of being an arrogant and carefree playboy to make sure it throws off any suspicion that Bruce could be Batman.

Any Robin character would have to be a complete reinvention, probably would be a lot more like Nightwing instead of a Robin. Would be a good story, he gets some guy to be his partner so that he can pose as Bruce while this guy is flying around as Nightwing/Batman so that Bruce can finally have a true alibi...considering how TDK ended, a 3rd movie would be the police really trying to hunt down Batman, so this could really be a good reason for Bruce to find a partner to help him.

No, he never knew that Bruce and Rachel were ever close (even Harvey didn't know) so he couldn't have put two and two together - all he was able to guess was that Batman (whoever he really was) had a thing for Rachel.

Absolutely fantastic movie.

Um, if you watched the cartoon series, then the name Harvey Dent should have made it obvious.

Right before the bomb went off and killed Rachel, wasn't batman going to save her? Did Joker give him the wrong address so he ended up saving Harvey?
