I think the thread is quiet because we're all busy getting our faces caved in by various enemies. On the plus I still have the timing down to parry black knights muahahaha.

Nice, I'm at 40-50 i7-4771/GTX670 at 2560x1440 with a mix of Medium and High settings. Not counting the occasional drop to sub cinematic frame rates.
With a 5820k, 32GB 3200mhz DDR4, and a 4GB GTX 960, I manage 6fps at 2560x1440 sitting on the menu screen. 1080p high I'm at 45-60 though.

I found the graphics settings screen to be a strange place, it gives me ~9fps then causes me to disconnect from the "online" portion of the game.

Yeah ill mess around with it tonight or this weekend. Maybe a driver update will help as well. Ah well, didn't expect particularly high FPS at 1440p and a single GTX 960.

I'm 1440p with a GTX 660. Looks great and very, very playable. I had a couple weird graphic glitches like floors not rendering until I turned lighting down to low. I don't mean the gamma slider. There is a setting - in advanced settings I think.

I got it running at decent framerates in most areas at 1440p. But it required a few restarts to get it at good framerates, game has some issues still, but at least it plays decently once I got past that.

Glad I prepped myself by playing through BB, DS1 & 2 beforehand. New to these games, but so far DS3 has been a breeze. First boss didn't even touch me. Through six bosses now and some mini-bosses, and all have been 1st or 2nd try victories.

Many bosses in the other games took me like 20+ tries.

Also, this game is f'ing awesome. BB was one of my fav games ever, but DS3 is surpassing that, and the high res + 60fps really brings it together. Real shame BB isn't on pc.

I've found the bosses to be a bit disappointingly easy so far but the stuff in between bosses is harder I find. I had some frustration in the cathedral zone unlocking shortcuts without losing my souls

I'm in the minority when I say i like DS2 more than DS1 even though I play DS1 first so with that said. DS3 look to be more of DS1 so I'll pass this time around.

Yea I spoke too soon lol. The last 3 or 4 bosses have probably taken me an average of ~7 tries. Game is definitely getting a lot more challenging, but man is it awesome.

Think you're missing out big time if you liked either DS game. Played through both just before 3 released. Not sure if I even have a preference of the two, but to me DS3 seems more like BB than anything. It's certainly shaping up to be one of the best games I've ever had the pleasure of playing. The locations have been incredible.

I had some awesome PVP sessions last night, red, blue, purple, white and gold phantoms.

I was hosting a fight club at the Boreal Valley with 6 players in my session, of course I dressed up as the Pope to be the intermediary.

I picked it up.

first boss was easy.
He has a nice surprise - definitely a WTF moment

second boss was easy.

To tell you the truth, the difficulty lies in the regular mini boss enemies.
Some of the move sets they have are pretty crazy and seemingly endless endurance on their part.

Right now my weapons are still +0 because I have not found one I like. The long sword isn't the same as in DS2. That is a bummer... The long sword is DS2 took me all the way through the game and was, IMO the best PVP weapon. The move set was beautiful.

PVP seems a bit jittery to me. It doesn't seem as smooth as DS2. Definitely more lag than DS2. In some ways it feels like the DS1 lag fest.

Overall the game is really incredible. Only L24 at this point and no weapon upgrades.

Once you get a little further, it seems titanite and large titanite are ridiculously common drops, so you can freely upgrade several weapons to level 5 or so. Titanite chunks have been scarce. Only been using them on one weapon, and just got it to lvl 8.

It gets harder, or it did for me anyway. I had the same experience as you for a while, first few bosses were cake walks, didn't even die once to a couple of them. Most of the game seemed overly easy actually. That all changed once I got to the first Lord of Cinder. Lost count of how many times it took me to beat him, most of the bosses since have been fairly challenging as well, and the regular mobs have become more dangerous too (some of them anyway).

I definitely expect it will get harder and difficulty is hard to quantify anyway. Plus, I think the class makes a big difference. For example - I tend to do very well with 1H and Shield. In a game that increased in difficulty from DS2, a shield is pretty much mandatory until you learn all enemy moves, which is going to take a lot of time. In DS1 I was shield, in DS2 I was shield until I learned the game, then switched to exclusive 2H for both PVE and PVP. Now in DS3 I am back to shield and find it is needed until I learn how some of these bosses and mini bosses attack. that said the game has a number of 'anti-shield' enemies who would basically get a free shot if you sit and block. I am glad they added that.

Anyhow, I picked up a claymore last night as I was cleaning up the first area trying to find things I missed (BTW, I was using steam streaming on my big TV worked great!) but I need to level up a bit to use it.

I tried out the halberd and was a bit disappointed with it. After playing so much with DS2, my go-to weapons just don't seem to exist yet which is probably why I am Shield +1H right now, because the long sword is pretty close to the 2H version in DS2. In fact, they switched the 2H moveset with 1H and vice versa.

Still looking for my Morning Star - My favorite weapon (not because it is great, but because it is literally my favorite weapon from medieval era). Sure hope they didn't gimp it like they did in DS1 and DS2. Probably the easiest weapon to parry due to the limited moveset and slow windup.

Bottom line - the game is great. I love it.

How do you guys choose a weapon? Are there any damage calculators out there? I can't figure out how to weigh damage vs scaling vs weight/speed etc etc. I guess moveset is important too though it feels like damage and speed are most important. Or maybe switching light vs heavy depending on what you're fighting?

I've played through almost the whole game with just the broadsword. Think I'm getting fairly close to the end, not looking at any guides.

Like it because it's only 3lbs, which allows more room for heavier armor etc. Uses little stamina. Can get 6 light swings in before running out, which brings most enemies down. Added a raw stone to it and upgraded to lvl 9 now, think 278 damage.

Pretty bummed that there is not a small soapstone. If you want to coop with your buddy, better make sure you help him clear everything and find everything before beating the boss, or else he aint gonna be getting help in that area again.

Finished my first playthrough last night. 4 and a half hours. =( Died maybe 5 times. Looked up and it seems there are quite a few optional bosses I missed.

Lol this certainly isn't my first DS rodeo.

The game is fairly linear and I ended up getting pretty lucky doing the church before abyss walkers, so I had the doll to go forward. Having an NPC tell you something is in the church helps though. >_>

This makes no sense and wreaks of a 'first' post. No, not because you only died 5 times. But who the hecks plays Dark Souls 3 to go through it as fast as they can? You will probably claim you took time to enjoy it otherwise it would have only taken you 1 hour, right? No way dude. Enjoy the art, the enemies, the secrets and the story. The game is NOT a 4 hour game. You speed ran it. I doubt anyone here would even WANT to enjoy the game that way. Your choice to enjoy a game the way you want, just saying, probably no one here can identify with your first play through.

Just can't understand why anyone would want to rush through a Dark Souls game. Almost like trying to eat a meal as fat as you can. Take some time to enjoy it.

Yea think I put 40 hours in for first play through. Trying to explore everything. Kinda didn't want it to end. Amazing game. And I missed a bunch of the side quest stuff.

Lol, I am just good at Dark Souls games. It wasn't rushed. I went through the areas in the order I found them, and it ended up being the "right" order and I beat the game. I understand how DS works and how to meta game it for good damage, so I did that. Sure, I missed some areas and didn't finish all be NPC side quests, but that is what a second play through is for. I don't aimlessly wander though. I kill mobs and move through areas.
