How is this game? Xbox Live has it for $9.99

It is amazing. I purchased it for $60 on Xbox and then for $50 on PC. There is a ton of depth that is "hidden". If you like challenging games that punish you for not being good, this is the game for you.

There is also a great story and a ton of lore that isn't just laid out for you. It will be lost on your first playthrough, because you won't read item descriptions or piece information together, but it is there.

Great game. My favorite game of the entire generation. It can get a bit tough at times but if you have patience it really isn't too bad.

Is 9.99 the Prepare To Die Edition? That has extra DLC content that is worth getting.

This game is a must have. A true RPG. As previously mentioned, you will be lost at times, but the journey is well worth it. For $10 this game is a steal! I personally have put in countless hours into multiple characters and play through. Edit* One thing about this game that is worth noting is that, if at all possible, you should avoid youtube instruction videos and other guides during your first play through! The spirit of this game is learning the game's various aspects through trial and error, and of learning it's story through exploration.

Don't get discouraged, you will get killed a bunch but you will get better and better at the game and it will really grow on you. I can't wait for part 2.

Love to see a thread about a truly great game and see its getting the respect it deserves.. not to many threads without some hate (justified or not). DEMONS SOULS is almost the only game I played on the PS3 non stop till i won and never felt i was just "playing to win", every minute was fun, even the repeat parts. I haven't spent the same time on Dark Souls, but its as good or better it appears.... I simply haven't had the time I feel the game deserves or I would Plow in and come up for food an potty breaks only..

June next year for DS2!!! was announced this weekend.

Dark Souls was worth $60.00. It was amazing. I don't think I've paid full price for a game in years, but DS was the exception.

I have 120 hours on the console version and 90 on the PC version. Well worth both purchases.

If he likes instant gratification type of games, no. If he dislikes having to think about the plot and story and actually read, then infer to come to conclusions about what is what, no.

The Souls series isn't for everyone. It isn't so much hard, as it is just punishing for you messing up.
