I normally just pop the hook out of a pike next to the boat as well. Lots of nasty teeth on those guys and I don't like netting fish I don't plan on keeping for a meal.

I'm a catch and release fresh water fisherman.
The Pike is not a good eating fish,,, to many dam Y bones.

why should we? Up until a few years ago when i wanted to go to Canada I would just go. My License was enough.

It's not like we travel out of the US often. NO real reason to. The US has enough to see.

Ummm... The reason to get a passport, even if you don't think you need it, is precisely this:

This weekend The family and I will be in Shelby Michigan. about 30ish miles from the Canadian boarder.

The kids want to take a trip to Canada just to say they did it. New laws now say you need a damn passport. No way we will get them in time. bummer

you can get them in time, you just have to pay the expedited fee.

actually maybe you can't because you don't have a passport office near you. when i needed mine expedited i went to the passport office in DC and they said come back in 2 days to pick it up. if you have proof of travel they will be sure to get it to you in time. you can literally go the day of travel and walk out with it.

I did this a few years ago, appointment at 9AM, passport was ready the same day at 4PM.

You have to get a new picture every time you renew your passport.

Renewal is easy. You get a new picture and send that, your old passport, the form and payment in the mail. It takes some time (a month maybe) so make sure you account for that if you have travel plans in the near future.
