lol. yikes.
flip flops?
Heck no, I would not jump an 8' gap with a 500 ft drop beneath me. You're nuts if you think they compare.
As was mentioned earlier, this guy was supposedly jumping around on outcroppings. His footing was probably shit. What is the point in trying that jump when the slightest mistake means instant death and actually doing it means nothing?
At least he understood the proper procedure. A few years ago there was a suicide at the canyon where the guy hiked out to the edge, sat down, and slit his wrists.
maybe success = pussy?
:\
To be quite honest my first thought was that he may have committed suicide and someone else is just trying to cover that up. But I guess the guy is just a moron.
I found another source that quoted his friend as saying he was posing for a photo for his girlfriend and got too close to the ledge.
GF: "Ok, say 'Cheese'!"
GUY: "Chee--AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!"

However, several other witnesses said he was jumping around. I think the friend is trying to make him look better.
That's the first thing I thought of too.
Practice jumping? I don't know how you spent your childhood, but you probably should have gotten out of the house more ;^)

(image is huge, so I just left the link)
So that guy actually tried to jump that gap? Yikes.
Does a small pile of rocks appear in a photo journal on the right side of the MSNBC article with a caption that says "It's A snap!" appear for anyone else? Does anyone else find that funny like I do?
"Hey y'all! Watch This!"
