Data Hard Drives keep disappearing

I am running XP Home.

I have a C, D, and E drives. C is the OS, D and E are just storage drives.

Recently, D and E have stopped showing up in My Computer and Disk Management. When I reboot, they show up, then disappear after a while.

D is IDE, E is SATA.

Not sure if they are dying, or if it is a software issue. Please Help.

Somethings to check are:


!) Do you have PowerToys TweakUI tool install and configured to hide drives?
2) Do you have all disk controllers primary and secondary IDE and SATA enabled in your BIOS?
3) Does not hurt to recheck your drive cables (internally)and make sure they are seated good.
