Copy from one Western Digital 4000YR (eSata) to 2x 150gb Raptor (Sata, Raid 0).

I'm getting like 6-11MB/sec.

Does this sound right?

IMPORTANT Weird... It transfers for like 10 minutes then it says out of memory. The partition it is tranfering to is 35/240 GB at the moment. According to the task manager I'm using approximately 1 out of my 2GB of RAM. It has the option to retry where it keeps failing. Then if I try to cut and paste after I get an error and nothing else until I reboot. I'm trying to transfer like 200GB... even breaking it into 15 GB chunks isn't helping.

"There is not enough memory to complete this operation."

You might look into updating your driver files with the chipset specific files for the eSATA and/or the internal SATA controller. The native drivers in Windows may be causing the errors you are mentioning...

Sounds like a driver issue. Also, your physical RAM usage is not what it is complaining about. Programs in the user space don't have direct access to physical memory, they use virtual memory instead. The windows virtual memory manager controls physical ram usage.

Are you running Windows Vista with Kaspersky Anti-Virus? There is a known bug when using KAV in Vista that causes a memory error (same one you are getting) after copying 16,384 files. Link to KAV forum article.

EDIT: By the way, some have said that you can kill the "explorer.exe" process, and when the process restarts itself, you can resume copying files. Might want to give that a try.

That definitely sounds like the KAV bug.

They have a work around on the forum chocobo posted I believe. You can also just terminate the explorer.exe process then click file->new and type explorer.exe to start a new process and it will reset the limit. At least that works for me.
