Daughter's Miata rear ended

The downward force pushed the rear end down about an inch & twisted the car

Kid is fine, but now I'll likely have to scrounge up another Miata.

first, we're glad she's ok.

second, now all you need is the back (less expensive) half of another wrecked miata, and you can have a good, street legal race car.

Have to see photos to make a good judgement. But the Miata is a Unibody
car, as are most and if it is twisted or highly crumpled, they may just total it.
What year is it and what hit it ? I have a 1999 Grand Prix which was also
rear ended & my insurance totalled it due to it's age. But the damage was
only trunk lid & bumper, plus a bit of trunk floor / rear pan sheet metal. So I
was able to get it fixed for well under what they paid me. No damage to the
rear fenders thankfully or the repairs would have been more involved.

How did the wreck happen? I assume it wasn't her fault if you are going to get her another Miata.

She was stopped on a 2 lane road to allow the car in front of her to turn left, other driver didn't see her. Her car is a 97' Miata, it too out the bumper shroud, sub bumper and left rear fender, the chassis is actually twisted so the top won't close without a bunch of leverage, so I suspect it's totaled.

Shes a very careful driver, but her car's been hit X2 in the last month, first one was the right front fender while parked, now this...

She loved her car and asked for another Miata, she's driving mine for now, should hear from the appraiser Monday or Tuesday...

They gave me a Chrysler Grand Caravan as a rental, I'm not impressed. It has a huge lag when shifting, feels like one of those smogged out cars from the late 70's.

I drove a caravan for a few months at a job I worked at. The acceleration was terrible. I remember getting honked on when I merged onto the highway because I was going so slow, but I was flooring it.

The same thing happened to my '96 Miata way back when - I was rearended by a 4Runner.
Your daughter's accident sounds a bit more severe than mine but, as a reference, my autobody guy charged $3k to get it fixed.
