The latest "official" word is that what's called the "first calendar call" is on the 18th with trial scheduled for the 28th of this month.

Something usually comes up with these things. Somebody always has a schedule conflict or something.
Cases take a long time to actually get to trial.

David will likely be pretty quiet this week, as the preparations for trial continue.

Thank you for your support.

David is overwhelmed by how much everyone cares.

It has been very much what has kept David going throughout this whole nightmare.
On behalf of David & Donna, Thank you very, VERY much!

You guys are a class act.

We're awaiting an accounting now.

It's looking MUCH better - I'm happy to say.
Final legal billings probably haven't hit yet - but there's one thing for sure:

AnandTech, and the DPC, and many, many other supporters have shown
they have a sight more class than the GA AG, or his minions. (hey - that's a variant of "Gag" :Q)

I'll post as soon as I know more on the totals.

I figure it's safe to assume that donations are still being taken.. I decided to zero out my PayPal account, so another $6.77 is on the way - not much, but that's all there is!

It is surprising to see a thread from that long ago pop up. The Title is close to accurate unfortunately but Donna and I have managed no thanks to me. I never found a decent paying job again and I know will certainly not be in IT a many people have found the Industry dried up like a tumbleweed rolling in the hot dry air.

In January we wound up $6,000 in the hole and continued paying on the Lawyer bill every month with no less than $100 month, then all of a sudden in April they hit us with an 18% finance and interest charge without any warning or anything. So when we sent $100 only $75 went to the principal with $25 going in their pockets as even more profit at our expense. Bear in mind this has nothing to do with my Lawyer David Joyner, he left that Law firm shortly after my case closed and has his own Office. So Donna and I cut the interest in half by paying the balance of the Law firm off by maxing out our credit card that has a 9% interest rate.

Thanks Norse, that was why I wish I had come back better by now and wish I was able to do more for you when you got stranded over there on the West Coast.

I have been keeping busy doing yardwork but a one man operation and just residential just doesn't bring in much.
Also that Paypal account has strangely popped up some like this thread, not sure if the person that did it minds me saying anything in this thread yet though, but Thank you very much.

From what it looks like, was $18,000 in legal fees.

$11,000 (which is amazing and why Donna and I are still in our home and didn't lose it) was covered by donations (that was how the $7,000 in the thread Title came about) that is not including the $2,175 that happened by that Power Auction, that went straight to the $2,100 Restitution settlement (where they were originally looking for $415,000, this baffled the Judge BTW plus the Prosecution asked not to add the $350,000 in fines) so that was very much like and similar to the recent College student cases.

Dave ,surely that lawyer firm can't slam you with extra interest without warning?:| ,sorry to hear that btw ,you'd think they would know better than to hit someone who has already been stung!.:|

Btw I hadn't realised the donations came to $11k dollars!:Q

Btw2 - I dunno about the USA but here in the UK loan rates are always cheaper than credit card rates ,is it possible for you to pay off the card with a loan?

"surely that lawyer firm can't slam you with extra interest without warning?" That is exactly what they did and I brought it up to Mr Joyner who used to work there right away and he said there wasn't anything illegal about it, they tacked on standard 18% Credit Crad like interest rate. Guess that is the legal limit before it is considered illegal loan sharking?

"Btw I hadn't realised the donations came to $11k dollars!:Q"

There was a couple of big contributors from on here that made up large chunks of that as well as the incredible volume of the smaller amounts that shows that the online system and the term "Micropayments" can in fact work. Certain Industries fighting the Online and P2P World should learn from that experience too.

"I dunno about the USA but here in the UK loan rates are always cheaper than credit card rates ,is it possible for you to pay off the card with a loan?"

True, we already re-financed the house to a lower rate plus having to pay off my Van and Donna's car. The payment on my Van hit at the height of the ordeal, that is where what my Dad did came in that I still have a reliable vehicle, we would lost that too. I don't know how I'll ever be able to repay my Dad either. It took a lot to stop Donna and I from being buried. That's why I said no one should ever have to go through what we did and I do whatever I can so hopefully never get more members in the "Persecuted P2P Club", unfortunately the club is now up to 5 members with the addition of those College students including one that is a friend of an AT member here. The very real threat looming now is thousands and thousands of people taken down by Political process.

David, Mark (Assimilator1) said he would send a cheque through to me to pay to you, which I shall do asap I shall also include some for you and Donna from myself, as I am now in a reasonable paying job, and have not yet given you anything other than all my moral support, so it's the next step that I can take

Dave - their invoices or their contract with you should have spelled out any interest that would be due on their charges.

I know, no, nothing on any paperwork describing anything like that, just that we continue making payments, we never missed a month and never sent less than $100.

When they made this change of adding interest they even didn't show that we paid a $100 that month but we had the cancelled check back.

What's Porivo? I'll do a search on it.

Thanks Garry but like you brought up, the situation with Roelof is Life and Death. I posted in that thread of how I wish I was able to contribute just like in the Norse's thread. Roelof's situation is dire.

Oh, by the way speaking of Norse, The Chipster, Minds Eye himself is one that re-fired the Paypal account. He is here in Atlanta and hope to meet him very soon.

I hope the $20 I sent last night makes a small dent in your debt. Good luck with everything.
