Nightbringer is available now for free on the BL site. First book in the Ultramarines books. I haven't read it yet personally though I have heard it is good, I have the omnibus already though

FAIL

Pre-ordered my collector's edition and I'm not getting it til the 4th, when it's released in the UK. (guaranteed to ship and arrive on the 4th, Royal Mail willing)

What happened to the simultaneous worldwide release of Chaos Rising?

i bought the space marine pack, can't wait to play it later tonight!

Got the Space Marine gear via pre-order too I'll be playing tomorrow though.

EDIT: In the built-in performance test I'm getting 12MIN, 33AVG, 62MAX with everything maxed/on in settings at 1920x1080... When I turn on MLAA it goes down to 10MIN, 27AVG and 41MAX... ouch. And v-sync is crashing the game, so screen tearing and coil whine in menus at 1300FPS

I wouldn't worry about those numbers, that's pretty normal for this game, doesn't seem to be very efficient with the graphics rendering or something.

I don't know if you are forcing vsync through your videocard control panel or some other 3rd party app that may be causing the crashing, but you can edit your configuration.lua file to enable vsync. Find the "vsync" line and change the "0" to a "1." The file is located in Your documents>Your games>DoW2 retribution

Sh!!!!!!!t.....

Some customers in certain countries had an early unlock for Dawn of War II: Retribution. Incorrect release date information caused the early activations of Retribution in Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Malta. These early activations have been reversed.

We sincerely apologize for this mix up and any inconvenience caused

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1775883

Seems we (Denmark) have to wait until the 4th too... But Netherlands can play, why not Denmark and others? Makes no sense...

EDIT: LOL, they even took the community post down listing launch dates...

Well I started the campaign last night. It looks like there are 6 separate campaigns... one for each race! If they're all of a decent length, I would be SHOCKED that a company provided actual content in an expansion... that hasn't been done for years!

Dark crusade...

Although a lot of the missions were "samey"

To add to PlasmaBomb's post, Soulstorm. Standalone expansion packs

Also, from what I have heard there is a lot of map recycling and crossover with the campaigns. I think this will actually add to the credibility of the game. I can't word it properly at this time but if you were comparing a Chaos campaign to a Space Marine campaign, you might expect the Imperial Guard encampments to be in the same place on the same map.

My copy is still in the mail. My name on steam is kefka1983, does anyone want to play The Last Stand together? It's been a while for me but I loved that mode so much.

Did they ever add in an option to toggle autocover?

Autocover has to be the most frustrating mechanic in the game, I pretty much stopped playing chaos rising halfway through because of it.

It was so frustrating to tell your missile launcher equipped FC to attack a building at max range, only to have him run up into melee and right into range of a bunch of heavy bolters.

They got rid of auto-cover completely.

Well boys, I've started the Space Marine campaign and am a few missions in. Lots of spoken dialogue, scripted events, etc. Of course, this SM campaign has a lot of story to cover to deal with events from DoW2, so it could just be the only fleshed-out campaign. I'll try the Ork campaign tonight or tomorrow and let you dudes know.

PlasmaBomb... Good point about the Dark Crusade "campaign"

SM and IG, first three missions overlap. I'm finding the lack of voiceover work compared to vDoW2 and CR a little disappointing but they had to spread their resources over 6 campaigns so I can't be too fussy..

From what I can gather, one Hero on each side is silent. Definitely detracts from things as only three of your heroes can talk in storyline action. Apart from The Ancient who has taken a vow of silence, these heroes will still chirp up with typical sayings.

I'm not sure that the 'building units during a mission' thing comes off well but I love the balanced options given to me in deployment. You either take a Hero or you take an honour guard in their place, which gains certain bonuses from certain hero skills.

I was never a fan of Cyrus so I swapped him out for his set Honour Guard and they are frankly the mainstay of my forces.

The way you unlock upgrades for the units which you purchase in the field is kinda unique and interesting but will fall flat straight away if you decide you don't want to purchase any or you want to stick to a certain type of unit.

A mixed bag but certainly weighing on the positive side for me so far.

In all, Retribution is a bit of a mixed bag. Some people will be loving the campaign changes, the introduction of the new race and new TLS content whilst others will curse the 'samey' nature of the campaigns, the pricing debacle which saw most people paying a lot more than America for no apparent reason and the awkward Steamworks currently issue plaguing everyone who uses the matchmaking.

Now we just need a lot of custom campaigns

The MP part seems to be even better now, and while the campaign is not as engaging as before. Playing with the units in the campaign helps you understand how they work once you start playing MP.

i haven't played any WH40K, but i did play "WH: Dark Omen" about 10 years ago. are these game similar in the sense that you have units and "heroes" with special abilities, you collect money and items throughout the missions and buy/upgrade units between missions?
