I think I should remind people, that if you see this movie, you are more than likely supporting the Kerry compaign, whether you want to or not.

That is what I heard. They basically just mock Bush left and right.

Yeah, even the vice president looks like Dick Cheney.

Yes because this movie was made just to support Kerry and his Ecologically friendly campaign, and to denounce bush and his evil global climate changing Regeim. ;tard:
A lot of movies poke at people inpower or who are famous, you just see it in this movie because it is an election year.

If you don't think this movie is purely political you need to take your blinders off. This movie was conceived from the beginning to spread fear and press a political agenda.

I hope you're joking

I liked it alot. A heck of alot. I thought the acting was good, by no means is anyone going to win an oscar.

I read the making of the movie, apparently they did their homework about the real effects of global climate change. Besides the fact about it happening so effin fast, it was mostly correct.

Jesus Christ, would you people quit analysing it politically? I didn't hear this kind of whining about, when Roland Emmerich made the hyper patriotic Independence day.

On a real note, how possible/logical is it for that to actually happen in real life?

No

And one more thing, after all the snow melted, wouldn't that cause a lot of chaos?

That's the point of the movie... it isn't going to melt.

Did you watch the movie? The storm passes and eventually the sun comes back. At the end of the movie the astronauts in space are able to see earth with the land free of snow. -- I have no idea what I'm talking about. I just figured it would melt eventually.

The major storm passed, but there is a new ice age... which will lasts a few thousand years.

I thought the movie was terrible.
***SPOILERS***

Who walks from Philly to NYC, in a couple days or less, in subzero temps, and upon arrival walks in from the Atlantic Ocean side. Also what about the part when the person says that the temperature is dropping "10 degrees per second", there's no way that could happen, because they were outside for like 30 seconds after that. Was it negative 300 outside? There were so many terrible things like that I actually found it entertaining because of how stupid it was.

Wasn't the production company and distributor of the movie Fox?

Somebody with a purpose? As for the Atlantic Ocean side... i don't know, i'm not too familiar with the geography of New York, so i can't say.

Also what about the part when the person says that the temperature is dropping "10 degrees per second", there's no way that could happen, because they were outside for like 30 seconds after that.

The temperature drop was from the funnel in the storm... and assuming the temperature drop was coming from the sky downwards (which is what the movie showed), it would take some time for it to reach ground level (and remember there wasn't any wind in the eye of the storm).

Was it negative 300 outside? There were so many terrible things like that I actually found it entertaining because of how stupid it was.

It was close to absolute zero, that was the point of it. That was why fuel lines froze and the frosting behaved more like fire than ice.

I thought the movie stunk.

-All the special effects were shown in the preview and the commercials (thanks to being bombarded by the avalanche of previews, we could be sure that the movie would stink before we even got to the theater).

-Dennis Quaid has one facial expression. Same one he uses for finding his son alive, he uses for finding out that New York is underwater, and it's the same one he uses for when his friend cut the rope and fell to his death.

-The plot was completely lame, who *didn't* know that Quaid's kid would make it out of the library? Who *didn't* know that Quaid would somehow hike through a new ice age to New York from DC.

Hollywood cries about piracy of movies, but I feel like my wallet was looted after that pile of poop.

Are you kidding me? This movie blew hard core. I was laughing out loud many times during the 'serious' parts where you were supposed to be feeling sorry for the stupid people in the movie.

Horrible plot, horrible writing (oh so corny) and about a million coincidences.

Give me a break. This movie hardly get 4/10 let alone 10/10.

The Earth's core is dying, the golden gate bridge collapses. 9.5 earthquake, the golden gated bridge collapses. Ice Age, the golden gate bridge collapses...

me and the wife enjoyed the movie...maybe it's because we went in with average expectations, so we weren't disappointed.

Did people actually go into this movie with high expectations in the first place?

i can't believe people take this movie to seriously about what can and can't happen in real life...ITS JUST A FREAKIN MOVIE...

after watching star wars, did you say, that light saber can't happen in real life. No, you enjoyed the movie..

(BTW, by no means am I comparing to this movie to star wars, but the acting was problaly on the same level...)

I don't think that people are up in arms about it being realistic as they are about all the film and plot mistakes in a $120 million dollar film. It's a substandard movie that is getting shoved down our throats as a "BLOCKBUSTER" even before it was released. Absolutely poor.

Just got back from seeing the film.

One, I will stab anyone in the face who attempts to either defend or refute the "science" behind the film. Leave it alone, and get a life.

Two, the special effects were very pretty.

Three, dialogue was hilarious - this made for an entertaining film. I, like most in the theatre, laughed out loud constantly.

Four, I realized Dennis Quaid is capable of only one expression/emotion: confused disbelief.

My only beef was with the abrupt un-ending.

I enjoyed myself, and I'm glad I saw the film in the theatre, where the effects could be appreciated. It was unpretentious, good-looking fluff, people, nothing more.

It all depends on the type of person you are to like a movie. My wife and I just got back from watching it, and we both agreed it was a good movie. Watching movies like these are my favorite and it is the type of movie that I would enjoy. Movies like Volcano, Armageddon, and so on can really get me into watching it. I wouldn't mind watching it again either, so overall it was a good movie to watch.

what is the difference between realistic and plot mistake? the movie only gets shoved down your throat if you let it...

IMO, it was a good movie...not great, but there are definitely worse ones out there...

Some people seem to think that movies need to be 100% realistic to be entertaining. These people won't find many movies they enjoy. Too bad for them, the rest of us will have all the fun.

Repeat after me. It is a disaster movie. If you go to a disaster movie expecting Harvard professor approved science and Broadway quality acting, plot and dialog, I think you should rethink the amount of brain damaging drugs you use.
