Yeah, what the fvck was up with that??? I live in NC and it happened here too!! What a weird koinkidink! I also noted that my crew of friends were the only ones who laughed when that English scientist gave his last toast to Manchester United.

The mistake is made when people try to make out a movie, before watching it, as something that it is not.

Just like Van Helsing. People thought it should have been some sort of drama/horror with stage acting.

WTF? Maybe the previews, website, and general plot would have given people a clue that it was a "fun" movie and not a serious drama. Lame.

A few days back I was listenting to something on NPR about this movie. Some climate scientists were interviewed and basicaly said that they were afraid that people would walk away from the movie thinking that those events were possible and that the film was 'scientific.' They ragged on it pretty hard, and heck being that NPR is liberal as all get out and they ragged on it, that tells you something.

Honestly, I have not seen it nor do I have any plans on seeing it.

OH NOES!!!!!! Well then I hope conservatives don't go see 99% of movies, since in essense you are lining the pockets for all the crazy hollywood liberal actors/actress's that the right seem to hate so much.

And as said before, if the ocean currents stopped, it would take at least a year to enter an ice age, not a day or two like seen in this movie. I saw a show about this a few years ago. The massive winter storm was put there because it needed suspense in the movie. When we do go into an ice age, it will be too cold to live up north and we might have a big problem with food.

I just saw it and I have to say that the special effects were cool, and that's about it.

*SPOILER*

I mean, come on, wolves? how was that even remotely necessary? There were also corny things like the Americans crossing the Rio Grande and getting stopped while trying to enter Mexico and the fact that they had all the breaking news and presidential addresses on the Weather Channel. Give me a break. The only thing missing from that movie was a plan to stop the destruction by using nuclear weapons.

At least Independence Day had a plot.

I thought it was excellent. I give it 3.5 stars out of 4. It really keeps you interested. It is clearly the best disaster movie I have seen. I tag it a must see.

Who walks from Philly to NYC, in a couple days or less, in subzero temps, and upon arrival walks in from the Atlantic Ocean side. Also what about the part when the person says that the temperature is dropping "10 degrees per second", there's no way that could happen, because they were outside for like 30 seconds after that. Was it negative 300 outside? There were so many terrible things like that I actually found it entertaining because of how stupid it was.

How did you gather that he came in from the Atlantic Ocean (east) side? He passed by the Statue of Liberty, which is on the west side.

I hope you guys who saw this movie did so after seeing Shrek 2. If you didn't, then you made the wrong choice. I don't like cutsie kid movies at all, but Shrek 2 was the funniest thing i've seen in a while.

I enjoyed it. I got what I expected from a Roland Emmerich movie.

I thought this remark was funny:
In the case of A.O. Scott's review of The Day After Tomorrow, it observes that the film is rated PG-13, then notes: "Millions of people die, but nobody swears, copulates, undresses or takes drugs."

I love when people attack science with the premise "I am not really sure but"

It was a movie BTW...some of it is highly plausible as a future possibility. Should the 'Greenhouse effect" happen the first step would be the melting of the polar ice caps, which would in turn release at least enough water to submerge many islands, most of Florida and reduce land along every coast line.

If it happened fast enough tidal waves could result, it would only take a 20' storm surge to really cause a lot of damage.

Eventually the world would warm up...this would change our wind patterns...no as far as triggering an 'ice age' I have not looked into that possiblity enough to yea or nay it. My bet is either way is you will be lucky to make it through, but I would guarantee life would not end totally.

I saw the movie last night, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm from Texas and the theater had many, many claps when the Americans were trying to cross illegally into Mexican borders. Pretty funny. For all of you who thinks that the movie was too unrealistic, get a life. If the movie was realistic, then it would be on hell of a boring movie. Who really wants to see a disaster movie where the disaster takes place in the span of 5-10 years. Some people are just too smart for the movies, stick with the history/discovery channel if you want realism.

This movie sucked, how can you FVCK UP a movie on weather? The story was gay.

For instance, I love how wolves manage to survive a 100ft wall of water, walk to lower manhattan from the bronx, and then manage to attack 3 guys as they're trying to find penicillin written in english on a russian boat that manages to park right in front of the library.

I call bullshit.

How about using a payphone underwater? That did it for me. or the fact that NY had no power, underwater and frozen, yet cell phone towers were still up and running. There were a lot of other "mistakes" I caught while watching it.

The theater I went to everyone started laughing at the sight of everyone running through the border & I was basically the only one that laughed at the "Manchester United" comment

so let's see...

i guess everyone should hate all action/sci-fi movies and pretty much any other movie that is not 100% realistic and true to life and contains any scenes that cannot occur in real life or don't have a good plot...

did i miss anything...

Exactly what I was thinking. Most people who havent been to NYC don't realize that the Statue of Liberty is on the west side of Manhattan island.
