If I were Biden I would invite him on the dais during the swearing in and then immediately give him the MOF. I would understand if the guard didn't want to get on stage but Biden could do it indoors the same day. Would be great symbolism.

Agreed. It helped that the racists also wanted to do harm to a black man. He used that to keep them away from their Senate targets. He deserves all the accolades he is getting including the Metal of Honor or any other award the Capitol Police has. It amazes me that Pence was not evacuated until 15 minutes after he directs them away from the Senate entrance.

Good idea. I am all for some kind of serious promotion in addition to official recognition and decoration. IMO this was one of those lynchpin moments in history where a slightest difference in action could have yielded incalculable ramifications. The entire country owes this man a debt. That a black man saved our Senate and many lives from what was basically a white supremacist uprising is something that should never be forgotten. Let Eugene Goodman not be forgotten like whatshisname (Frank Wills) who discovered and foiled the Watergate break in.

What's wrong with this story is that Eugene Goodman stood alone. Let us never make that mistake again.
