Daylight Savings Time and BIOS

I don't post much here but read posts at various times. Lately my computers run just the way I like them and I have taken up different hobbies. But I am seeking this forums knowledge.

As everyone knows the time changed this morning and for some reason I cannot get the BIOS time on my motherboard to change. I have tried many things and nothing seems to work and there are 2 computers here that are having the same problem and they both use ASUS motherboards. The computers are ASUS A7N8X motherboards. One is A7N8x-E the other a A7N8X ver.2.
Here are some details.
I am running XP Pro with all the latest patches that relate to security and updates to the OS. I have installed the latest BIOS for the motherboard. I have tried to install the MS DST patch but I get a message stating that I already have it installed. I have manually changed the time in the BIOS yet on reboot it does not stick. I have changed the time in the OS and about a minute later it reverts back to one hour earlier. I think it is related to the BIOS problem.
I am pissed and at wits end. Any ideas?

BIOS takes whatever you program there. However, modern operating systems pick up time from the net (via NTP services) and adjust the hardware clock again.

What you actually need to do is install Microsoft's patches for the changed daylight savings rules. The patches came through last month if I remember correctly.

Did you change the "Time Zone" in the Date and Time properties? You can also tell the operating system to not update the time.

I did that several times yet within 2 minutes it rolls back to one hour earlier. On both machines.

Peter...I have changed the BIOS several times yet when I reboot it reverts back to one hour earlier. The time does not stick. Installed the latest BIOS file. Still no go.

Old Hippie...I changed the time zone to Central Time yet again the time reverted to one hour earlier. The time zone patches have been installed, at least the OS says they are when I try to re-install.
I have synced the time on the Internet in Date & Time, it works but within minutes it reverts back to the previous setting.

It's maddening.

You're doing better than me. All of my American time zone selections have been deleated. I've set mine to "(GMT-04:00) Manaus" and turned off the "Internet Time Synchronization". It won't do automatic Daylight Savings Time Changes, but it's just another quirky MS thing that comes with the territorry.

Well, after a bit more fiddling with these machines the time now seems to be stable. I have Sage TV pvr software on these machines and there has been some problems with the software updating to DST. I upgraded my Java software to remedy the situation with Sage and for some unexplained reason the time is now sticking and staying that way. I know it sounds crazy but I am happy for now.

I'm glad...but had you bothered to mention the auxiliary software, we may have been able to offer a better explanation/resolution.

You're right! Sorry Toddly! I gotta remember only to post before I work on the washer.
