Daypack? Is that just some trendy word for backpack that people invented to try to make themselves sound cool, or does it refer to something else entirely?
A day pack falls between a purse, and an expedition pack :^D
Ah... so it's... a backpack.
Why not just say "backpack?" Why "daypack?" OP looking for the inevitable "gaypack" that would describe a "daypack" with similar finesse as fannypack/faggypack, and with similar implications? Why bring that upon yourself unless you're just trolling?
"Backpack" can also mean a 70L backpack for weeklong backpacking trips. "Daypack" refers to a smaller range of backpack sizes. Any outdoor enthusiast or person not living under a rock should be aware of this.
I guess anyone not living under a rock should be aware that we have adjectives in our language for a reason: so dumbasses don't invent words to describe shit that can already be described. That's like inventing a different words to say "one-gallon jug" and "two-gallon jug." Like... "ongjug" and "twongjug." It doesn't make any sense. Any human not living under a rock should be aware of this.
Anyways, enjoy your gaypack.

Daypack is a very common term.
Maybe you guys need some oxygen to think clearly. You believe a word made to market backpacks to idiots ignores that we have adjectives in our language. Then again, keep thinking that you haven't merely adopted a marketing alias because I rather enjoy calling your backpacks "gaypacks," and the amusing invocations upon you.
i have an REI flash. its my favorite day pack. very light, simple, comfortable. It is light enough that i can stuff it in my large granite gear pack to use as a stuff sack and day pack while backpacking for a week.
Maxpedition makes great stuff, but all of it is heavy and over built for the avg. person.

The term daypack has been around for decades. Just because you've never heard of it, that doesn't make it some sort of new marketing ploy.
I suppose you call all shoes, shoes (using adjectives to describe them), and don't call different kinds of shoes different things. Do you have 'big clompy stomping shoes' or do you wear 'boots'? How about 'little shoes with straps' instead of 'sandals'?
You do realize that a boot carries with it a dramatic design difference other than size, unlike a gaypack, which is either identical in size or smaller than a non-hiking backpack. You can't say "the large shoe" and conjure up an image of a boot, but you could say "the backpack" or "the small backpack" and conjure up an image of a gaypack. However, don't let me stop you in making false analogies.
I also think it's pretty amusing that you think that a word being around for decades and being created for a marketing ploy decades ago somehow makes it not a marketing ploy. Either way, I don't really see any reason to believe that it's a word of this great longevity and commonality you speak of since it isn't in the OED. Hell, it isn't even in Mirriam-Webster.
I hope by this point you realize that you've fallen for a marketing ploy. If not, then keep on gaypacking the day away!
miner are you obsessed with the word gay? Let's act like grownups and add something to the conversation, otherwise I do not think anyone here thinks you are funny with your "gay" comments. We got it you associate "day" or any other word that rhymes; with the word "gay". is it a Freudianism with you? It's over now get over it (let's move on).
